...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast.
This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter.
There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung).
Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee.

...The seagate250GB hard drive is a necessary and useful piece of equipment to the 1000's of people who download movies or films etc. Its large storage capacity and and unusually low price was something that I found very attractive. The hard drives fan makes little noise in comparison to its size, and I have had next to no problems with it in my 1 year experience of it. However the fact that this hard drive needs to be plugged in to a power source before use is of great inconvenience and adds to general awkward shape of the harddrive due to the extra cables. On purchasing the Hard drive I found the installation quick and easy, the fact that it connects using a USB makes it quick and easy to plug in, and the thin tall shape allows it to sit neatly next to your computer. Advantages: 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM, fairly quiet, Very fast Disadvantages: none
...I have 2 of these in My PC.
They are working together in RAID 0 mode, which is basically doubling the speed of this drive.
In Raid 0 mode half of the data is stored on one drive and the other half on the second which makes the system 2 times faster and unfortunatelly increasing 2 times more risk of drive failure, if one of the hdd's dies all data will be lost. ( I trust Seagate I never had a failure of their drive out of about 10 i had so far )
Average Read is 165 MB/s
Average Write is 136 MB/s
I am using my PC to edit movies and i am working on many GB of data on each project. Having drives in Raid 0 mode increased a lot speed of many operations.
I have a standard Midi Case and i must say that i can't hear the drives,
my PC is very quiet all fans are running on 5V...

This product is a bit of a double edged sword. The down side is that my second one of these has just failed after returning my orgional to the supplier after a Harddrive failure, the same has just happened. the Drive is quite bulky, however this does not more
i bought this hard drive for my new PC. As I wanted alot of storage space, so, I bought this hard drive. I was in need of such high storage capacity because I do some graphics stuff and also I wanted some space for my movie collection.
