    We, as a family, each have a pc/laptop on which we were storing an ever increasing amount of music, photos, school work, study material etc. To ensure the safety of this data we decided to purchase an external hard drive. The reason we chose this portable version was simply because it was portable and meant that anyone one of us could take it to work/school and access the data or add data without the need for various memory sticks.
