I store a lot of photos, music and documents on my laptop and was finding I was needing to delete documents or put things on cds to enable me to save more data on my laptop. This was getting to be a pain, so I took a trip to PC World to see what options there were. I spoke to an advisor and on special offer was this Seagate External Hard drive, instead of the RRP of £120 I got this hard drive for £70. I thought it would be really useful and this has proved true. The hard drive also came with a 1 year guarenteed warranty.

The hard drive is grey and black and looks quite bulky, especially when plugged into a laptop. It has a USB cable which connects into the USB port in your computer or laptop and a cable which is plugged into the mains. When the hard drive is on, a small green light is displayed on the top. The hard drive is approx. 3.5 inches in height, 10 inches across and 3.5 inches deep. When it is running it is also has quite a loud buzzing noise, which can be quite tedious.

The hard drive has 120GB and can store approx. 2,000 hours of digital music, 38,400 digital photos, 120 hours of digital video or 60 PC games. You are able to store digtal photos, videos, music, DVD's, Business Documents and Emails on the hard drive.

The hard drive has a 7200-RPM spin speed and a 2-MB cache buffer, BounceBack Express software for fast and easy back up, built-in self-monitoring technology and is also compatible with Windows and Macintosh platforms.

I have found this hard drive really useful, no longer does my laptop get filled up, it also runs faster. I am able to store all large documents/music/games on the external hard drive which prevents the slow running of my laptop. You can use the external hard drive as a back up source also, if you loose something from your laptop/computer hard drive it won't be lost off your external hard drive.

The only problem with this hard drive is as it is external, you always have to have it plugged into your computer/laptop if you want data off it or you want to use a program that you loaded onto the external hard drive, which can be annoying, especially if you are on a wireless network and like to work on the move.

Another advantage of this external hard drive is that you can transfer the data on that hard drive to any ones laptop or computer, instead of having to copy it to a cd or trying to email large documents, they don't have to load the software onto their computer, they can just plug it in and search in my computer.

The hard drive is really easy to install and to use. The instruction manual that comes with it is simple and easy to follow.

I use this external hard drive daily and store a lot on it, and the space still hasn't ran out on it yet, which is great. If I ever do need more space then I am able to update my current hard drive to a larger capacity. There is a charge for this, and PC World are able to do this for you. I have had this hard drive for about 2 years now and haven't had any problems with it.

I would recommend this hard drive to anyone who wants to keep their data backed up or who has a lot of data, as this is a really useful piece of equipment at a reasonable price
