    Having learned the lesson that all essential data should be backed up the hard way a few years ago, I decided to purchase an external hard drive to do this job. I didn’t require a massive one, as I only wanted to back up pictures, music and documents, so I had a look around some local computer shops as well as on the web. I didn’t really require one of these new all singing all dancing models, and didn’t really want to pay a small fortune for it.     For a few months now I have been having trouble with hard drive space on my computer, as well as a couple of major system failures that resulted in alot of stuff being wiped off my machine. For this reason I decided to invest in an external hard drive, where I could both store and backup my precious files.     Advantages Advantages Fast transfer rates, lots of storage, hard outer-case, worth the money.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None really, can't doubt it. apart from satisfactory design.

    I bought this about a year ago and i have to say it's probably been one of my best buys in the past year. As for value for money i would say absolutely worth every single penny. I got mine for £99 from PC World. Plenty of storage for the average home user, you would only need something bigger if you were a video editor or something that takes up huge files. The transfer rates are above average but id rather make sure my files are safe and stable than having the moved at super-speed.     When I first took the Seagate out of its package I was rather surprised by its general bulk and wieght. However, herein lies the argument that should decide whether or not you purchase this product. As a means of storing data, whether it be documents, pictures, videos etc. (with 320Gb there's certainly enough space!), the Seagate is fantastic. With its fast transfer speeds, ease of use and installation - plug in the usb cable and you're ready to drag and drop - this hard drive will have all your data backed up in no time at all.
