As Sharpe as ever
Review of Sharpe's Battle - Bernard Cornwell by pdoyle007

Advantages: Great Story
Disadvantages: A little bloody for some people

...One of the middle books in the Sharpe series, the story revolves as ever around Richard Sharpe and his group of Riflemen. The story begins with Sharpes men interupting a massacre of Spanish villagers by a French Brigidier General. General Loup (meaning 'wolf' in French) is part og an anti-guerilla unit and thus is one of the more horrific soldiers in the French army. When Sharpe executes two of his men infront of him for war crimes he makes and enemy who dogs him and pursues his up and down the frontier, and the enemy is every bit as clever, ruthless and hard as Sharpe is. The story culminates with Sharpe facing disgrace and ruin and the French and British armies pulled together at the bloody and terrifying Battle of Fuentes de Onoro. Here in the close quarters street brawling battle Sharpes future will be decided. The story rattles... Read review

Kill her, go on kill her.... At least chase her!
Review of Killing Me Softly - Nicci French by Karla13

Advantages: Un-put-down-able!
Disadvantages: Quick ending

..."Please," he said, still not taking his eyes off my face. "Will you come with me?" He could have been a mugger, a rapist, a psychopath. I nodded dumbly at him and he stepped into the road and flagged down a taxi. Love at first sight. Does it exist? As far as Nicci French is concerned it does. Nicci French is actually 2 people. A husband and wife team, Nicci Garrard and Sean French, writing psychological thrillers together and doing a damn fine job may I add. Alice Loudon is a young woman who has it all, beauty, intelligence, a successful job as a scientist. One morning, while travelling to work the same way she always does, she meets eyes with a man crossing the road. From that moment forward her and Adam Tallis become inseparable. In a story of destructive passion, Alice drops her life to be with Adam, marries him in just a few... Read review

Note to myself - must read again
Review of Killing Me Softly - Nicci French by lynseylou

Advantages: Fantastic thriller
Disadvantages: I found none

...Under the pseudonym of Nicci French. Nicci Garrard and her husband, Sean French concieve and write psychological thrillers together. Killing Me Softly is one of them. This book is unlike any I've read before, I don't know whether thats because maybe I've lead a sheltered life (lol) or because this book really is as great and as thrilling as I think it is! This story is about a woman - Alice Loudon, a woman who seems to have a perfect life, a happy relationship and good friends. When going to work one day she meets a stranger in the street who totally mystifies and takes her breath away. She knows nothing about him, but something draws herself to him and they end up going to the stranger's flat and making passionate love. She leaves everything in her life to be with the stranger, Adam Tallis, a brooding mountaineer with a secret past... Read review
