We bought our R reg. Seat Alhambra in December 2000. It was a used car with a high mileage bought through the auctions. The high mileage was built up from long distance driving, not city driving, so that helped. The car was in very good condition and worked like a dream. It had been owened by a company befor and so had been well looked after.
When expecting our 3rd child, our 1st being only 4 and a half, we deliberated long and hard about which car to buy, which would comfortablty take 3 child car seats. We soon discovered that our choices were limited and that only an MPV would do the job. After doing our research, we discovered that the Seat Alhambra had the best to offer. The car came with a fantastic basic spec, including air conditioning, power steering, central locking, electric front windows. compared to our previous car - a Fiat Uno, it was great.
I had only had my driving license for 8 months but found driving the car very easy. The controls seem to be positioned very well and the steering wheel adjustable. Parking is not the nightmare I had imagined it would be, the power steering is a real asset.
The seats are very spacious and well laid out. They are very easy, although quite heavy to move around or remove completely. We found it great for holidays because we were able to take an extra person with us, remove the middle seat, and very easily get luggage and food for 3 adults and 3 children for 1 weeks self catering, along with pushchair, travel cot and large folded highchair. That was all without a roof rack, driving from London to North Wales.
Fuel consumption seems quite reasonable too. We drive on average about 60 miles each weeek, mainly school runs, yet i spend about £40 to £45 a month on unleaded petrol. One concern that I have is that the inside of the car wears very easily. Already the speaker covers are all damaged at the rear where my 3 year old gets in and out of the car very quickly. The trimmimgs also appear very worn. the middle seat has markings which do not look like they will go away, due to our babys car seat.
All in all We are very happy with our purchase and imagine that our next car will definitely be another Seat Alhambra.

Advantages: very reliable and economical, good driving position and very easy to drive. All in all a very good buy Disadvantages: The only real disadvantage we have found has been the firmness of the seats.
