SEAT Ibiza 1.4 16v

The Best Seat (Ciao Hitlist)

In June of this year, after a prolonged run of the RAC delivering me home from work via the hard shoulder of the M25, and once being towed for a mightily useful 30 feet by the Velvety Hi-Vis adorned Traffic Wombles before they stopped and left me stranded on the M4, I’d had enough. I was ... Read review

Imperial Finger Raves Darling

Advantages: Not a Bus
Disadvantages: A Car

...I bought a 5-door 2006 Seat Ibiza 1.4.SE DAB.
There are some numbers and letters there that the friendly car salesman kindly explained to the somewhat bewildered man who was blinking at him.

The 1.4 Engine size means I can poke along comfortably on the motorways in any lane I choose and I won’t have to lean forward going up hills like I had to in my old 1.0 Corsa, and pootling around Imperial Town I benefit from around 40 imperial ...
...delighted when, under the bonnet, Seat have helpfully made all the things that plebs like me are allowed to touch coloured brightly orange – the washer bottle reservoir cap, the oil filler cap, and the dipstick, that’s the wiry thing that you always pull out and have a look at knowing full well that you haven’t got a cloth to wipe it with, so your efforts are pointless.
Everything that cost money to fix is protected beneath a bit protective ... more

The Mad Cabbie Retires

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

...with an opinion about a Seat Ibiza car, do I hear you asking? Well, quite a lot actually. I’ve now taken up a new position with the taxi driver’s trade union here in Dublin, as editor of a new monthly in-house newspaper, and have rented out my taxi to another driver. (Although I’ll still do the odd shift here and there!) So I needed another car to get me around the city when my old “joe maxi” was out working. ~ ~ ...
...while back about the new Seat Ibiza, the supermini from the VW-owned Spanish car manufacturers. So taken was I with the car when I test drove it, that when it came time to look for some new personal transport, I decided that the Ibiza was the one for me. However, not being a Scotsman for nothing, there was no way I was going to shell out the “spondoolicks” for a brand new vehicle, and put vast amounts of taxation into the coffers of ...

Seat Ibiza 1.4 DAB Sport.

Advantages: VW quality for less money and better looks. Excellent stereo system
Disadvantages: Hard suspension set-up, annoying auto locking at 15kph.

...far. Having already owned a Seat Leon I was expecting a quality car at a good price and I haven't been disappointed. This is the DAB special edition, meaning it has a more powerful 1.4 petrol engine(100bhp compared 75bhp), excellent digital radio CD system, I-pod connection and uprated sports suspension over the normal 1.4 sport version. Seat has given the whole Ibiza range a facelift and it makes a vast improvement on the previous model. The new ...
...better quality materials has made the interior a nice place to be,if a little dark. The seats are very supportive and the dash is well laid out, everything being within easy reach. To drive, the more powerful engine makes a difference, it revs and pulls well and is reasonably economical(I have averaged 40mpg over the 1600 miles covered so far). No doubt that would drop if I drove the car harder. The power steering is electrical so it is very light ...

Barcelona's Bantamweight

Advantages: Great all round super-mini.
Disadvantages: Alarm not fitted as standard.

...and I bought a new Seat Ibiza 1.4 S in March 2000 after buying a new Alhambra people carrier 5 months earlier and being very pleased with it despite having a few problems crop up. The value for money factor and the input of VW's engineering and technical ability and reputation were big, big factors in buying a Seat Ibiza, so much so that we did not compare it against any other manufacturers models, which spec for spec were far dearer. The 3 year ...

This car is so easy to fall in love with

Advantages: Incredible road handling, Looks gorgeous, Cheaper insurance than Clio, corsa etc!
Disadvantages: Rear wiper washer tube keep coming loose

I have owned the Seat Ibiza sport for 1 year and 8 month now and I could not be happier with it. This was my first car and with there being so many decent hatchbacks out there I cannot truely compare how it drives to a clio for example. As for looks though I believe this car is by far the best looking hatchback for the price range. This is only enhanced by the newer model just recently released, Seat have revamped the front grille giving it a more ...
...trouble to me. The Seat customer services and servicing workers have been extremely polite at all times and have even offered advice on my car. Having sat as a passenger in a clio and Ibiza, I was amazed to learn that the Ibiza is actually smaller. Inside it just makes perfect use of space as I have had no complaints of being cramped even with 4 passengers. When I bought this car I had the intention of changing to another after a year and a half ...

Spain's best kept secret...

Advantages: equipment levels, quality, retailers, price.
Disadvantages: Not much at the price. All you sacrifice is the badge and if that's what you look for, you miss the point of Seat.

Nearly bought a Saxo - wow, I'm glad I came to my senses! When shopping for my new car, I saw all sorts and sat in various driver's seats trying cars for size. What swung it was closing the door on the Ibiza - a hefty VW clunk - not what you find on a Saxo, Clio of Punto, where the doors are made of tin. The spec I got would have cost £4000 more in the equivalent Polo (same engine, gearbox, floorpan, switchgear...etc...etc...) and I would have been ...
...Seat. When driving my Seat, I feel smug whenever I see a Polo - and there are lots out there. Not only is my bank balance healthier, everyone has a Polo - how many Ibizas do you see on the way to Tescos? Not many. Add to this, the friendly dealer and the willingness to negotiate price, I got a bargain. Now, with the addition of standard alloys from Jan 2001, there are low profile 185/60 14in. tyres as standard - roundabouts are really fun in this ...
