Advantages: Fast paced tale that you don't want to put down Disadvantages: Takes a few chapters to readjust

In all honesty, coming out of the Black Jewels series, this took a little adjusting. A completely different world, a completely different cast of characters, a completely different power of my favorite aspect ... ...a simple task, and the simple enjoyment, of making koffee. Remember, this is a different world altogether. Demons, succubi, and other "dark" elements of the spiritual world abound in this short, fanciful tale of a place where succubi and such elements are not shunned, but welcomed. Waterhorses will offer you a ride, but I don't suggest you take it - they will take you to the bottom of a lake where you will drown, and the horse eats you ... more

This tale starts with such a simple task, and the simple enjoyment, of making koffee. Remember, this is a different world altogether. Demons, succubi, and other "dark" elements of the spiritual world abound in this short, fanciful tale of a place where succubi and such elements are not shunned, but welcomed. Waterhorses will offer you a ride, but I don't suggest you take it - they will take you to the bottom of a lake where you will drown, and the horse eats you at its leisure. Maybe you could take a ride on a demoncycle? They are motorcycles inhabited (and morphed with) demons. A good ride, if you like the sort.
Oh, sorry, was digressing, yet again.
The world is divided into lands. Each land exists on a different plane of existence. The lands are "bridged" by actual bridges, that were created by Bridges (males who create the bridges to the different lands.) The power females are the ones who create the lands, and each land resonates to them particularly, and their Bridge, who builds the bridges to the different lands. There is one especially powerful female named Belladonna (fitting, I think, as this is, after all, a dark tale.)
This is a tale, in all honesty, of boy meets girl, boy is scared of girl, girl isn't scared of boy, girl stays with boy, boy finally gives in, and they save the worlds and everyone lives happily ever after. Sappy, maybe. Fanciful? Definitely.
While it is not the rampant imagination that encompasses the Jewels series, it is, nonetheless, an excellent read. What, you want more plot? And give away the joy of reading the book for yourself? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Okay, maybe a smidge. The ultimate evil in this book is called The Eater of the World. Piqued? Good. Now, go out and borrow this book from the library, and let me know your thoughts!
