This Sebo upright vacuum cleaner was purchased because I was looking for an efficient easy to use cleaner that was good on carpets and that I could also use on the stairs and upholstery.
The Sebo was recommended to me by the staff in the department store as being suitable for use in a household where some of the family have asthma. The cleaner has special filters that are more effective than standard and also has paper bag that is easy to change without the dust that it has collected becoming airborne in the trip to the dustbin. Emptying my previous bag less cylinder cleaner had left me covered in dust and often wheezing.
This upright cleaner is so much easier to use than a cylinder cleaner, the only comparison I can make is it is like the difference between dragging a suitcase or using a wheeled case to take your luggage; as you end up cleaning the carpets more often than going on holiday I soon wondered why I had ever struggled with a cylinder cleaner in the past.
The cord is long enough for me to be able to vacuum two adjoining rooms without unplugging it. It costs more to use paper bags than using a bag less but I think it is worth it, anyway the bags last for ages. I've never had any problems with the belt coming off which can happen with some upright cleaners and the only maintenance I've ever done is to put in a new bag and change the filters. Although occasionally I've had to cut wool or string of the bit that rotates with the brushes on it (this is due to my carelessness) and it never damaged the machine.
The tools are 'on board' i.e. clip at the back of the cleaner a nozzle for crevices and an 'upholstery brush head' there is a tube which these fit to for jobs that an upright technique is not suitable for.
It was a plus for me that it is neutral in colour grey/ creamy-beige as I have no cupboard to hide it in and did not want a bright coloured cleaner.
This cleaner is so reliable and efficient that I would certainly purchase this make again although repairs and spares are available for Sebo cleaners if it should it ever go wrong. It cost a bit more than the cheapie types to purchase but it was definitely worth it.
Advantages: Picks up everything Disadvantages: Extending hose could be longer, but you can purchase an extension.
...Dyson seems mediocre!
The Sebo x1.1 is sort of flat packed when delivered and must be assembled before use. There are only 4 major parts and with concise instruction supplied, is very easy to put together. Once done, just pop in a bag and you are good to go. Yes, this cleaner uses bags and thank goodness I say. The bagless cleaners I have used have been very poor - what dust they expel! I would say it probably takes me about three months to fill ... ...place and having had my Sebo for nearly a year now, it still looks very clean. Having just rechecked my manual, you are advised to change the microfilter when dirty, or with every 20 bags. Let's see - one bag every three months means 60 months to use 20 bags, which means only change the filter every 5 years, unless it gets dirty. Wow, my cleaner is even better that I first thought! The bags are so easy to change - squeeze the little green clips at ...

Quick review of Sebo X 1.1
We are delighted with our Sebo - better than any 'cyclonic' cleaner made. Light too with a good hose system. Try it before you buy anything else. We haven't regretted it and we know lots of others who like their Sebo X1.1 too! ...
Advantages: Great vaccum cleaner, picks up EVERYTHING Disadvantages: can be a little heavy, wiring can be stripped easily.
...most people think are great- SEBO is out of its league! In the place I work people bring in a lot of dirt on shoes, sand and sometimes guide dog hair and I have never had a problem with any of this. I have never had the brush stick with hair which is a particular problem with my Dyson.
The vacuum glides across the floor when on and I have no problems with it. I am however young and male and I feel that those who are older and (without being sexist) ... ...run under the tap.
On a final note, the SEBO I use has hospital grade dust filters that seen to genuinely work, my Dyson makes me sneeze, this doesn't!
If you are considering this vacuum, buy it, you wont looks back. They are reliable and pick up everything. ...

Advantages: Totally automatic adjustment and fault shutdown, quiet Disadvantages: Slow adjustment when changing floor type, short hose supplied, few tools.
I liked the built in tools and 'ever-ready' hose and, having had my fill of burnt out Dyson drive belts and continued need of powerful brushes the 'permanent drive belt' aspect appealed to me alongside the automatic height adjustment. The slow response of the automatic height adjuster began to cause problems when switching between flooring types because although the suction is good (not incredible) the brush flicks bits of dirt around hard floors- ... ...old house with slightly uneven floors. The bags are big, really easy and clean to change and easily found in all of our local shops. The only problem i found is that the tools supplied seem to be orientated for stair use but the hose supplied only reaches halfway up the first flight. ...

Advantages: good overall cleaning Disadvantages: not easy to get clog out if stuck between brushes and main hose
I have had my Sebo now in excess of five years. I was going to buy a dyson but tried a neighbours and found it not very satisfactory. Went to John Lewis, still thinking Dyson and they showed me the Sebo as an alternative. You are even allowed to have a go with the machines. The sebo was much lighter. It is a bag cleaner but I have not ever found that a disadvantage. It cleans really well.
There are lights to tell you what it is doing - ie brushes ... ...a clogged bag.
I use have two children and two cats so the cleaner gets alot of wear and tear and has stood up to cleaning/time really well. When you buy the bags you get all the filters too - I usually feel abox lasts me at least a year which is good value for money.
I found it very light weight to use - much more manorverable than a dyson.
It will even lie 'flat' on the floor which means I can, just, get the hoover under my sons bed without ...

Advantages: Can be changed to hand held, quiet, powerful, great quality upright. Disadvantages: Can topple over due to short hose, uses much healthier bags.
on an economy drive at the moment both financially and environmentally we were stuck for choices since the market seems to be brimming with vacuum cleaners that have a high wattage of power to maintain suction and with Dyson and other bag-less brands left out of the equation, there are only a handful of brands left who offer dust bag collection and low power. After shopping around and visiting many high street shops such as Comet and Currys, it was at John Lewis that we got to test drive a couple of upright vacuums and had to either discount one thing or another to meet our requirements. One vacuum cleaner however stood out amongst all the rest that matched our needs; the Sebo Felix range. We did try the X4 and X1.1 but this is a larger upright that we felt would be too big for our flat.
** Why Felix? **
John Lewis had a very well stocked range ...
