When I was little, I used to live next door to an Italian family. The grandmother spent hours slaving over a big pot, making her ‘secret tomato pasta sauce’. It sounds like something out of a Dolmio advert, doesn’t it?

>> COOKING INSTRUCTIONS << Begin by cooking your pasta (I normally use penne). When it is almost cooked, pour the pasta sauce into another saucepan. Gently cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. I find that the 350g jar is suitable for 2-3 people.
While the pasta sauce is heating up, drain the pasta and pour into the saucepan. Stir the pasta and sauce. Finally pour into your bowl, ready to eat. I normally find it tastes even better with a quick grating of Parmesan cheese.
If reheating in a microwave (700W), empty the sauce into a suitable container, cover and heat on full power for 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Once opened, refrigerate and use within 3 days.
>> GOOD, WHOLESOME SAUCE << All Seeds of Change food, including this pasta sauce, are registered by the Soil Association and produced using only 100% organic ingredients. This means there are no added preservatives or chemicals.
>> YUMMILICIOUS TOO! << Every effort is made to provide the richest flavours. For example, in this sauce, they pick the basil before the sun rises to ensure it keeps a full flavour. Next, Parmesan cheese is added to give a distinct pesto taste. Afterwards, fresh cherry tomatoes are added for a sweet but delicate taste.
The combination of cherry tomatoes, basil and parmesan cheese is really delicious. Although the flavours are rich, they are never overwhelmingly rich.
Indeed, I’d say the best thing about this sauce is how simple it tastes. It makes a gorgeous summer lunch. When my husband was ill, he lost his appetite for everything. I couldn’t convince him to eat anything at all. But when he smelt me cooking this, he gingerly said “erm … actually … that smells good. Can I have some?”
>> PRICE AND VALUE FOR MONEY << A 350g jar of pasta sauce costs £1.79 (51p per 100g). This is good value for money when you compare it to other organic pasta sauces, such as Sacla (81p per 100g) and Go Organic (60p per 100g).
Compared to other non-organic tomato pasta sauces, Seeds of Change is reasonable value for money. For example, it is less than La Doria (66p per 100g). However, there are cheaper tomato pasta sauces on the market: Dolmio (42p per 100g), Lloyd Grossman (46p per 100g) and Bertolli (33p per 100g).
You can buy Seeds of Change from most supermarkets, either in the pasta sauce aisle or in the organic aisle. So, all that remains to be said is for me to wish you 'Bon appetit!'
