I had always been a fan of Playstation as it was my first console and after many years on happy gaming I heard the Playstation2 was coming out which got me excited. I has started to save for one as I know it wasn’t going to come cheap and then i saw the Dreamcast and it was love at first sight.
IN THE BOX
When you receive the console you get:-
1X Dreamcast console 1X Control pad 1X RF TV lead ( To connect the console to the TV) 1X power cord 1X modem lead 1X demo disk 1X internet disk 1X instruction manual
My you do get a lot.
SETUP
Setting up is simple just plug the RF lead into the back of the Dreamcast console and the other end in to the aerial socket on your TV set and plug the TV aerial into the splitter on the Dreamcast RF lead so you do not have to keep switching the wires around every time you want to watch TV or play. Now Stick the power cord into the Into the back of the Dreamcast console and the other end into the mains before you switch the console on plug in any game pads and VMU memory cards you may have. Now you are ready to get gaming but first switch the console on without a disk you should come to the main menu go to options and set the time and date and now insert your game and select play from the main menu or restart the console using the power button.
CONTROL PAD DESIGN
The control pad is very comfortable as it is designed for maximum comfort there is two pressure triggers on the top of the pad these are mainly used to accelerate in a racing game or block in a fighting game and are located in the best position where you can access them easily the pad also has a analogue direction stick along with the stranded d-pad (direction buttons) and the four gaming buttons red, blue, green and yellow. These are position for any one to easily access.
GAME RANGE
There is a great range of games available for any target audience as it has games for any age like the great Tony Hawks which is the best skateboarding game this game is suitable for all ages as I have been enjoying this for many years, along with the Dreamcast exclusive Soul Calibur one of the greatest games fighting available on the platform and how can I forget sonic adventure this is what it is about. Even though the Dreamcast died young it had its moments.
FEATURES
The Dreamcast is the first next gen console with 128 bit graphics so you can be sure the games are going to look great. This is the only console which allows you to surf the internet and send and receive emails through the dial up modem supplied or broadband adapter (not included) which I used for many months before I got a computer. This is also the first with online gaming so you can play great games like Sega GT against other racers all around the world. Unfortunately the online gaming servers are gone now as Sega is dead but not buried but you can still use the email and internet so its not all bad.
ACCSESSORIES
This console has a large range of accessories like a keyboard to make it easer to type emails also there are games which require this along with the mouse.
There is a light gun for games like house of the dead and silent scope.
And the rare arcade pad this is cool to use with Soul Calibur and other great fighting games.
There are many more but i do not want to bore you by writing about all of them.
GENERAL
This is one of the best consoles to be created but because the competition with the ps2 it was to much so it did not survive but it is an advantage as it is available from as little as £20 pre-owned from game shops like Gamestation and the games cost no more then £10 so this is another advantage so if you have been meaning to get one of these for yourself or for the kids there’s never been a better time.
Thanks for reading hope this helps.

How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
(+) Plenty of storage space, for media. Good Games, Great for partys, with singstar. Very Reliable. (-) Sometimes the optical drive, breaks; but not very likely, my 60gb still working after 2 1/2 years.
Advantages: vague internet feature Disadvantages: not a good selection of games, all seem to be new games that haven't appeared on other platforms that are below par!
