"Not a tick but what a chime!!!"

Seiko Wooden Wall Clock

Seiko Wooden Wall Clock

+Seiko Wooden Wall Clock+

My wife and I were bought our lovely wall clock ten years ago for our silver wedding anniversary by our children. We had previously had an old Grandmother clock that had tick-tocked for the last time and we did miss the regular chimes.
We have been extremely pleased with our ‘new’ clock – that at ten years old is still going strong, looking lovely, keeping good time all with just an occasional polish and an annual battery change.
When I was listening to the chimes last night, I though “Ah, I shall write a review on our gorgeous clock!” – so here it is!!!!

+ About the Clock +

This is a traditional ‘schoolhouse’ style solid oak cased; the case is a medium brown oak and the clock measures 21 inches tall x 13 inches at the widest part x 4 inches deep – so it sticks out around 4” from the wall.
The octagonal shaped clock face is ivory and measures around 9 ½ both horizontally and vertically; the numbers are printed in black (not raised) and there is a gold circle printed on the face that is a nice accent. The hands are black and the words Westminster and Whittington (the two chime types0 and Seiko are written in black on the face. The face is covered in Curved glass and there is a gold design on the pendulum glass, the pendulum is a gold colour and made from aluminium, the pendulum is not real, it is for appearance only but looks really good.
The back side of the clock is made from a solid thin wood panel with slots along the edges so that it easily lifts out, for changing the time, chimes, battery etc. All the controls for the clock are accessed via the back.
It takes one C battery and weighs around 9 pounds..

If wanted, the chimes can be turned off and they can also be set to stop chiming at 11 pm and start again at 7 am. Because you can adjust the loudness of the chimes or have Westminster or Whittington (and the chimes are truly harmonious) this clock gives you many options for just how your clock chimes.
The clock chimes every 15 minutes - 15 minutes past the hour it makes 4 notes, at 30 minutes past the hour it makes 8 notes, at 45 minutes past the hour it makes 12 notes, and on the hour, it makes 16 notes it also chimes the hour (4 times for 4 o'clock etc.)

• Schoolhouse style clock design
• Dark brown solid oak case
• Westminster/Whittington quarter hour and hourly chime
• Curved glass crystal
• Pendulum style

You will pay up to around £200 for this clock although it is available new on E Bay from £125 with around £25 postage. This clock is WELL worth this price.
+ Our Opinion +

This was our first battery powered pendulum clock, replacing our last key wind model that had died, and we LOVE it!! At around £200 it is not an inexpensive clock but it IS a quality one, and it looks expensive and very classy (wasted on me you might say then!!) It is a quality, attractive, solidly made clock that keeps great time and has pretty chime; the pendulum does NOT tick like the old wind up clocks.

We support the clock one the only ONE reasonably strong "picture hanger" which makes it easy to remove for re-setting such as when the hour goes back or forward or the battery needs changing. The battery is a C battery and lasts around a year; we have got in the habit of putting a new battery in every time we put the clocks back in October – and the battery has never run out yet.

The chimes are deep and mellow, and sound like a ‘real’ old grandfather clock, we have the volume control at about the 12 o'clock position which suits us perfectly.
We have been so pleased with our clock for a decade now, it still keeps accurate time with pleasant chimes on the quarter hour. The only slight problem is that setting the time, adjusting the sound volume and replacing the battery are a little awkward. You need to place the clock facedown horizontally (we put a duvet down to avoid scratching it), then slide open the back to reach the clock mechanism. Inevitably, the pendulum will fall off its hook and needs to be carefully replaced before returning the clock to the wall.

+ Finally +

I have no hesitation at all in recommending this lovely clock; it is an excellent product with a big clock and easy to read numbers-perfect for older eyes!! It has a loud, deep and resonating chime that can be turned down or switched off if needed. It is made from real quality wood and glass encasing – basically, it is a true time-piece masterpiece
A quick note, the pendulum doesn't swing until the clock is in an upright position; but when the when the battery is in and the clock is wall mounted, the pendulum swings non-stop
