From Blue to Brown in Ten Minutes Flat Advantages: A thorough, even tan Disadvantages: Staining I have very pale skin. One could almost verge on 'blue' in the description. I used to lament this fact all the time as a teenager when the beautiful people would sit in the sun at lunchtime with their skirts around their hips, turning a smooth, golden colour. All I would have was a very sore red line where my skirt had been, humph. As an adult, with more money and freedom, I have tried a variety of ways to improve my colour. No7 - One of the best fake tans! Advantages: Instant glow, develops into a really natural-looking tan, smells ok, leaves your skin silky smooth Disadvantages: Slight smell, but what fake tans don't! ...market, I came across the Boots No 7 Quick Dry Self-Tan lotion some time ago, and fell in love straight away! The lotion is smooth and non-greasy, and rubs in easily. It is absorbed quite quickly, and makes your skin really smooth and silky - not all oily like some other tanning products. Although it gives an instant hint of colour, the real tan doesn't start developing for a few hours. Personally, I think it is best when put on for bed - the next ... ...looking out for offers in-store. Boots often have vouchers for £5 off the No 7 range, which is an instant money-saver. There are also often 3 for 2 offers on the No 7 products, or free gifts if you spend more than £x. On top of that, you are at least earning points on your Advantage card, which will allow you to treat yourself in future! You don't always get what you pay for! Advantages: Easy to apply, cheap, effective Disadvantages: It takes a while to absorb I bought Boots Soltan Medium Self Tanning Lotion in a buy one get one free deal that was on Soltan products at the time. The product i got 'free' was the Boots Soltan Medium Self Tanning Mousse. In comparison to the mousse, and in fact to most self tans i have used, i found the lotion extremely successful. It has the consistency of a moisturiser and is very easy to apply, rubs in with no problem and gives even coverage. The tan started to develop ... ...on just before you are getting ready to go out, unlike some fake tans which need applying the night before and eliminate the possibility of looking well bronzed on a spontaneous outing! The colour it developed into was definitely noticeable but by no means orange. It was a pale bronze colour and looked as if you could have just come back from a week in the sun. Boots Soltan Self Tan Light Advantages: nice, streak free tan Disadvantages: the way Boots kept prompting you to buy their other products through the directions on the can Boots Soltan Self Tan Light Three months I won this in a packet of prizes. Last week, with the good weather (though I like the weather, I don't want skin care so instead of hours of sunbathing and burnt skin, I opted for faking it) I decided I wasn't going to be the palest person on the planet and got to work. I normally use the Piz Buin fake tan and I'm never used mousse before. There's no category for the light mousse so I hope you don't mind ... ...of Boots. As it's a Boots brand, you can only get it at Boots. It's on special offer so at the moment it's £4.65 instead being £6.99 and in the can contains 150ml. On the can, it says for superior results use Soltan Pre Self-Tan Exfoliator Exfoliator and Soltan Pre Self Tan Moisturiser. They are both at the moment £2.32. And if you want stain free hand, use Soltan Self Tan Applicator Mitt, which is now also, £2.32. Well, it's the lotion, not the mousse! Advantages: Great colour Disadvantages: Can stain if spplied heavily ...product. I bought Boots Number 7 Tanning Lotion about 2 years ago, and am still on the same bottle as a litlte goes such a long way! At the time is cost me £8.99, though I couldn’t say now whether its gone up in price. It comes packaged in a yellow, almost squate tube, with a goldy/brown lid. The directions on the box tell you to shower and exfoliate well. I use a normal shower lotion and a body puff to make sure that I remove all dead skin ... ...and absorb well. You also do not need to moisturise as the lotion will do that for you. The first time I applied it I was far to heavy handed, and ended up a little on the orange side, but since then I have been able to use the product to it’s best effect by applying a little at a time. Your best bet is to remove rings and watches, so that you don’t end up with small deposits that will stain your fingers (or in-between them) a riduculous ...
