Actually it was my dad who said that Selfridges is my “spiritual” home and I sort of agree with him!! I have to say I love shopping. Being based in London finding where to shop or what to shop for is never a problem. However the number of people that shop, believe me is a major problem, especially during the weekend.
But Selfridges is different. First of all it’s massive and you can buy almost everything there. My favourite departments there are the food hall (I just cannot resist their bakery department every time I go there) and the women clothing on the 3rd floor).
The great thing about Selfridges is that you can find high street clothes such as Miss Selfridge, French Connection, Oasis and also designer clothing (Gucci, Moschino, etc..) The same applies to shoes and accessories. The women clothes departments occupy two and a half floors so I am sure everyone can find something. The men clothing occupies only one floor and although there are many designers and companies to choose from, there is not that much variety as with women clothing (sorry boys!!!!)
The shop is also not so crowded even when the rest of the shops in Oxford Street are. The shop assistants are usually helpful and you don’t have to queue up for ages to get to the changing rooms which is usually the case with High Street stores.
The food department is definitely worth visiting and I think only Harrods can compete with it. You can find all sorts of interesting things here from all over the world. I love their organic tea from Japanese organic farm and their yoghurts (cherry and chocolate are yummy!!!).
There are also a lot of restaurants in the shop, including a great healthy cafe on the second floor where they offer a wide choice of healthy meals.
I think everyone should try shopping in Selfridges. I still cannot get enough of it!!!!!
Oh I nearly forgot, the interior is great as well, although if you want to see something really impressive and spectacular – try Harrods, which reminds me more of a museum than a shop!!!
