This phone ... ...I had never heard of Sendo before and I am sure some of you haven't. Apparently they are based in Birmingham.
From a company I have never heard of before, i am that impressed I would go as far as to say I wouldn't think twice about having another phone from them. In fact, they are bringing out a new model soon, the same as this but with a camera for £100. If it works as good as this phone does, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend ... more
After having my motorola v70 for about two years, I decided it was time to change my phone.
My partner had also recently lost his mobile and was using one he didn't like and so we decided we would get the same phone, on the same network, so that it was cheaper for us to call each other.
We are not ones for having the best when it comes to mobiles and so I simply sat at the computer one day and typed in my search engine "cheap flip phones on pay as you go". I had already decided we were having flip phones, because I had always wanted one!
The first website that I went to had the sendo M550 on show. It showed a picture, the price and then gave the specifications.
It was then that I decided this was the phone we were having!
***********************LOOKS**********************The Sendo M550 is small in size, with no ariel protuding from it. It comes in various colours, which are:
Black

This phone has two screens. On the flip part externally, there is a small square screen which displays time, date, network and reception level. You can adjust the setting so that the display can only show time and date if you like.
Once you flip the phone, the inside is silver in colour. All of the keys are silver and they are nicely spaced. The backlight is green in colour and you can adjust how long you would like the back light to show.
The colour screen on the inside of the phone is square and shows the normal things like: date, time, network, reception level, battery life and internet connection. It has a vibrant look to it and is very pleasing to the eye.
Sizewise I would say you could compare this mobile phone to a credit card. It is the same size as a credit card, just thicker.
********************FEATURES*********************
For a small lightweight phone, it has a lot of features. Here are the menus and what they contain::
PhoneBook - save numbers to your phone or to your Sim or to both! On your phone you can store upto 500 names and numbers.
Text messaging - you can add pictures, animations and sounds to your text messages, if the recieving person has the same phone. If your text message is more than 160 charactors, the phone will break the text down for you and send it over multiple texts, so you don't have to.
Internet - access the internet and download ringtones, screensavers, picture messages, logos, wallpapers and games. Surf the net and send and recieve emails.
Sounds - 15 preloadable ringtones and 15 memory spaces for downloadable ones. The ringtones that are already preloaded onto the phone are good quality sound wise, but the choice as to whether you will like them is purely personal! In this section you can also adjust your volume level, choice of ringtone, whether you want it to make a noise when you flip the phone and whether you want it to make a noise with each key press.
Settings - in this section you can choose your language setting, alter the time and date and the information you want to be displayed on the external screen. The alarm clock feature is also in this setting, along with themes and screensavers. Your themes are your backgrounds. In total there are 10 preloaded themes. The screensavers come on when your phone is left open and inactive. You can adjust the amount of time you want the phone to wait before the screensaver kicks in. In total there are 35 preloaded screensavers, with a function that allows you to have a random choice if you can not decide which one to use!
Services - this section allows you to see call durations and cost as well as allowing you to set up a divert for all calls.
02 to go - this section is were you will find the games, pictures and animations. The animations and pictures are the ones that you can send through text messaging ad the games are as follows:
Kombat Club - a two player fighting game. You text a friend with the same phone and invite them for a game and then the game is played between the two phones. There is a charge for this game!
Ten Pin - this is ten pin bowling. Same rules as a normal game of ten pin bowling.
Splat - you have to bash the charactors as they pop their heads out of holes. Each level gets faster.
*****************NICE TOUCHES******************
When it comes to the pictures on this phone, not only can you use them to send through a text message but you can also assign them to people in your phone book.
If you assign a picture to a contact in your phonebook, when that person rings you, the picture is displayed along side their name.
I have found this to be a nice feature. For instance, when my fiance phones me along side his name are two lovehearts. When I look at my phone and see this, I always end up smiling, even if I am having a bad day!
You can also assign the pictures to the menus on your phone. This means when you access a menu that has a picture assigned to it, you will see the picture in the list of menus, not the name.
I have found that this feature is great for allowing you to personalise your phone. As my partner and I have the same phone, in the same colour, I have personalised mine and he hasn't. At leasat this way we can tell them apart!
I know that this feature wont please everyone out there, but I found a nice little touch that was worth a mention.
********************EASE OF USE******************
I have to say that my fiance is not the best when it comes to mobile phones! He just isn't interested in them and so I wanted him to have a phone that would be easy to use with not too many features.
After reading about this phone on the net I decided it was the one for two reasons. It was small, which was one thing my partner said it had to be and it didn't have a lot of extra features that would fluster my partner!
I have to say I was surprised when I got them home and charged them up. I gave my partner his and I took mine and we sat together to figure out how to use them. In no time at all my partner had entered his numbers, chose a ringtone, set his theme and activated his screensaver.
I know this does not sound like much to some people but normally my partner would leave all of this to me, as he has no tolerance for mobiles.
The phone really is simple to use and this makes doing whatever you are doing, a quick task.
Every feature is easily accessible and they are not hidden away within other menus that are within other menus, like some other phones we have owned.
I would go as far as to say that this phone is a good beginners phone, ideal for anyone who wants a stylish colour phone, at a reasonable price.
******************SPECIFICATIONS****************
For all of you that want the specifications, here they are:
size (mm) 45 x82 talktime (up to) 150 minutes standby time 300 hours colour screen 4,096 colours MMS - no mobile internet - yes bluetooth - no camera - no ringtones - polyphonic java enabled - yes
I am very ompressed with this phone and what it has to offer. I have found it easier to operate than my motorola v70 and my partner found it easier to operate than the siemens mc60 he was using.
I had never heard of Sendo before and I am sure some of you haven't. Apparently they are based in Birmingham.
From a company I have never heard of before, i am that impressed I would go as far as to say I wouldn't think twice about having another phone from them. In fact, they are bringing out a new model soon, the same as this but with a camera for £100. If it works as good as this phone does, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as a good mobile phone maker.
Ease of use 10/10 (very easy, a child could do it)
Syle and Looks 10/10 (small, lightweight, colour screen)
Features 8/10 (no camera, dowloadable ringtones and more)
Value for Money 9/10 (depending on where you buy)
Recommendation - Wholeheartably recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cameraless phone at a good price, that is easy to use and looks brilliant.
Advantages: Stylish flipphone at a cheap price for a colour one Disadvantages: Not the greatest array of features, and scratches easily.
...and the second was the Sendo P600, but when I used this in the store, I found the keys very duifficult to use. Insted I picked this cheaper offering, which lacked the camera, but had all the features that I want from a phone. Colour screen and polyphonic ringtones.
Starting with the network and price. I bought this from my local Tescos for £50 on Tesco Mobile. I have yet to find this phone elsewhere, but an unlocked one could be fornd on ebay or ... ...is more going on. The sendo logo is also there. On the screen, there are 10 themes to choose from. These are just like the ones on your computer. You can pick one to match your style. This ranges from a space theme to a flower power one. These are really great.
The phone is very easy to use. Everything you need is divided into 6 sections, which are colour coded with a picture on the menu showing you what is found in each section, so finding what ...

Advantages: Price, design Disadvantages: not for those fussy on features
...but not Sendo. In fact Sendo has its HQ in sunny Birmingham. Whenever I whip out the clamshell M550 people are baffled by its make, which I think adds to the phone's mystique!
First impressions (which invariably do count) prove promising. Without an external aerial the phone is incredibly compact, measuring in at the size of a credit card, and only about a centimetre deep. The front of the phone boasts a small screen, which lets you know all the ... ...Considering its price of £80, Sendo have managed to squeeze a remarkable array of features into the M550, though admittedly there are not as many as boasted by its (more costly) Nokia counterparts. To accompany the flashy colour screen there are polyphonic ringtones which, quite frankly are so naff that they become cool (a great paradox of youth!). With the choice of dance, R'n'B, "record scratching" (and many more) the M550 is desperate to annoy ...

Advantages: Price, Size, No aerial Disadvantages: **Lack of features** Poor reception
This is an amazing phone for the price. I have owned one for just under 2 years now. (I have just changed to an NEC e338). I paid £40 when I bought it on Virgin Mobile PAYG.
The main qualities are its size and ease of use. A monkey could learn how to use this phone. However, a monkey might find it hard to text with it as the keys are quite close together. I am NOT a monkey but I still have some difficultly. Another thing which makes it hard to text ... ...that you cannot text really quickly as it misses letters. For making and receiving calls this phone is great (except for poor reception) but don't expect much more for you money. It has an alarm which works even when the phone is turned off but thats about the only feature. I'm getting the impression this phone was designed by monkeys for use by monkeys. The battery life on this phone is amazing. Having it on all day (off at night) the battery lasts ...

Advantages: Small, light, nice looking, colour screen, full screen, Disadvantages: breaks so easily, poor reception, battery problems.
The sendo M550 hmm... well lets just say ill never ever look at one again, I owned this phone for about a year and it was functional for about three months of that time before breaking, and once it had broke all sorts of things went wrong.
After having a Nokia 5110 for about 4 years prior to this I was pleased to get an upgrade. Unlike my old phone it was compact and light and with it being a flip phone it meant I didn't lose all my credit when ... ...a colour screen and the messages no long came in two parts if they exceeded 160 characters. I could now download polyphonic ring tones and wall papers onto my phone and with the WAP I could do this without wasting so much credit. The games on this phone were brilliant. I loved the game were you whack the moles on the head it kept me entertained for ages; it also had bowling on it.
Now from the very off this phone crashed constantly. It was forever ...

Advantages: Colour screen, very small and light, exterior screen Disadvantages: Only one text alert tune, poor T9 usability, flat buttons
I bought my Sendo M550 from Virgin mobile as a perfectly good reconditioned phone and for a very good price of £44.99!
Pro's
* Awsome 4096 colour screen inside.
* 2 settings for the exterior screen, choice of large or small clock. Tells you who is calling, who has recieved a text from you (Delivery report), time date, signal strength and battery strength. (I find the large clock display very usefull)
* It's a flip phone so it's very small and ... ...Choose between 11 different display themes like in Microsoft Windows. (only a couple of them are good for actually raeding anything.)
* Polyphonic ring tones (Room for 10 downloadable tones). The ones on the phone are a bit naff to be honest.
* Space for 500 names and numbers on the phone in addition to your sim card. (Copy available).
* Colour/annimated screen savers. (Again ones that come with the phone are not very good)
* Get rid of delivery ...

I got this phone when I broke my SendoM550. I got the phone based on its look and the fact that it was only £15 secondhand. I only wanted it for texting and calling people, so the fact it didn't have any bluetooth or camera didn't bother me at first. I was very pleased when I got the phone, but I soon got bored with it. There isn't a lot to do on the phone, other than text and call. There is the option of having a camera add-on but they aren't very easily sought and are probably only sold in America and would cost quite a lot of money. I had the phone for 2 months before getting a new one. ...

Advantages: Works beautifully, long battery life, light in weight, easy to use Disadvantages: basic, without the mod cons, but all you need!
After the colour screen on my Sendom550 smashed without warning, i was on the lookout for a cheap phone that did what i wanted it to do - stay in one piece, send text messages and recieve phone calls!
Well, i definately found it. I bought my Nokia 1100 off amazon for the great price of £39.99 - but i see you buy get them for half now - even better!
I love this phone. After you've had one Nokia, you notice the difference when you swap - Nokias are certainly the most reliable and easy to use that i've come across. The 1100 is no exception - boasting long battery life, sleek design and an easy to use menu. I'd say my Mum would be able to work this phone - which for a technophobe is really something!!
I really can't praise this phone more. After the experience with my sendo clamshell phone, this is a breath of fresh air. It ...

My husband got a new job last week that (apparently) requires him to have a mobile phone that works abroad and is the flip-type. So we look at the latest ranges on the internet and off we go to Argos to buy the new SendoM550.
Argos, as you can imagine at this time of year, is packed and the queues are running out the door, and, despite the stock-checker facility on the internet saying it was in stock, we find out it's not available.
Phones4u has a special offer on at the moment whereby if you buy £30 worth of call-time you get a £30 reduction on the phone. That's on virgin mobiles though, and they don't work abroad, we're told. ARGH!
So, ideally having a budget of £100 and requiring a phone that a.) works abroad, and b.) if the flip-type, we have a look at what's on offer. There's a Motarola V150 'available soon' so we ask ...
