The Manufacturer Sennheiser is a company that has been specialising in the manufacture of headphones and microphones for over 50 years. They produce a large number of different models of headphone to suit various purposes from reasonably priced phones for portable players through to high-end models for hi-fi buffs and sound engineers.
Construction & Design I have been using these in-ear headphones every day for almost a year now, plugged into my Archos XS202S MP3 player. This is my third pair of Sennheiser headphones (the others are full-size, audiophile quality phones that I use with my hi-fi and computer) so they are a manufacturer I know and trust to come up with a high quality product. Although they are very light, they are clearly well-made and durable, showing no signs of wear or deterioration after nearly a year of daily use. The "Y"-type cable has a longer lead to the right earpiece than the left, giving the option of running the right lead around the back of your neck, which some people say they find more comfortable and secure.
The headphones come in a choice of black or silver finish. The cable and the interchangeable earpieces are always black anyway and the black model has a silver band incorporated, so any difference is fairly slight. I gather white ones have also become available now.
In-Ear Headphones As mentioned, these headphones are the "in-ear" type, also known as "ear canal" headphones. With this type of headphone the earpieces have to be pushed right into the ears, entering a few millimetres into the ear canal and forming a seal like earplugs. The advantages are threefold: the sealing effect blocks external noise and allows you undisturbed listening; the bass end of music is fuller and stronger and finally they tend to fit very snugly so they are less likely to fall out of your ears when you move. A bonus for people around you is that the sound does not leak out, so people beside you do not have to endure hearing a tinny, hissy version of your music.
However, there is a possible down side to this design. Firstly, some people find that pushing the earpieces right into their ears is intrusive and feels strange. Although I experienced this initially, I soon got used to the phones and it no longer bothered me. Secondly, if you are using them in the street you need to remember that you may not hear car horns and other traffic noise clearly, so you need to take extra care. Thirdly, I experienced a problem that may or may not be attributable to these headphones. A couple of months after I had started using them I began to suffer from compacted wax in my ears and had to get them syringed by my doctor. This may have been a complete coincidence but it is something I have never suffered from before and I can't help thinking that continually pushing something into my ears could be the cause of it.
Sound Quality Once the equaliser on the Archos had been set to my liking (I found the default setting gave a slightly thin and bright sound) these make a great partner. In their advertising, Sennheiser draw attention to the strong bass quality of these headphones and the bass is indeed full and tight, given their tiny size. The midrange and treble are sweet and the overall sound is clear and pleasing on the ears. I listen to a wide variety of music, including rock/indie, electronica, singer/songwriter and jazz and the Sennheisers cope with all of those just fine. I also use the MP3 player for language learning and the spoken word is crystal clear.
The huge improvement in sound quality over the standard phones supplied with the Archos easily justifies the price of these. I have tried them with other makes of MP3 player (and also a Palm PDA) and the same applies to those - using the supplied phones means you are just not getting the best out of your player.
Comfort Initially I found pushing the things into my ears a little unsettling but that was no problem after the first few days. I also found at first that I was aware of the sound of my own breathing and the cable brushing against my clothes because of the in-ear design but that also ceased to be a problem after a week or so of use. On the plus side the phones are extremely light in weight and they come with three sets of earpieces in different sizes. This is a huge advantage as you are almost guaranteed to find that one set will be the perfect fit, i.e. they feel comfortable, they stop the intrusion from outside noises and they don't keep falling out of your ears.
Noise Cancelling Pretty well all external noise is cancelled by these unless you are listening to very quiet music or spoken podcasts, when you will be able to hear some of the louder sounds around you. To achieve this, make sure you take the time to experiment with the different earpieces supplied. The idea is to get the right balance between being able to push them fully into your ears and also using a large enough size to provide a tight seal against your ear canal, which is what gives them their noise-cancelling quality. Some people apparently find that they need a different size in each ear, so that could be worth a try.
Price I believe the full retail price is £39.99 but they can be found for less than half that price. That makes them an absolute bargain as their combination of high sound quality, comfort and freedom from extraneous noise makes them rival much more expensive models.
Advantages: Solid sound, passive sound isolation, uber light and varying ear tips for comfort Disadvantages: Doesn't come with travel pouch accessories, sometimes in-ear seal is not secure
...already knew that I like Sennheiser as a manufacturer, with a pair of HD 650 (not portable but great for those evenings when everyone is asleep and you really want to watch a film in surround sound) I thought why not. And as much as I have always admired Bose and Shure on their skill at creating great headphones the price tag on them was, as a student, one my overdraft would not stretch to. So with the plan to spend about £30 and £50 with the hope ... ...in both black and white) Sennheiser CX-300 from dealgatesuk for £39. With the promise of a discreet pair of headphones, in a colour that wouldn't show up dirt (especially useful for when they have been in my bag with a sketch book or charcoal), noise cancellation, a two year warranty and with the promise of headphones that really do wonders for bass I couldn't wait for them to arrive.
I was on my way out of the house when the postman came running ...

Advantages: Very comfortable, sound great, excellent value for money. Disadvantages: The in-ear style may put some people off. Not suitable for vigorous exercise.
First off. Let me mention that I have nothing against the quality of the standard white iPod headphones that came pre-packaged with my new iPod Nano. However, I find them painful to wear for any length of time and they keep falling out of my ears, so I went looking for a suitable alternative.
Having had a very good pair of Sony’s Fontopia earphones (with swappable rubber plugs much like the ones on these) a few years ago, I found the format and ... ...plump for the CX300.
I ordered mine from Amazon for £16.99, opting for the eco-friendly packaging. As I have Amazon Prime, delivery was free and the package arrived with no hassle the next day. The packaging was novel (to say the least), being made up of successive layers of corrugated cardboard, cut to fit around the ear buds and cables, and held together by a promotional sleeve with Sennheiser’s product details on it, and a special eco-friendly ...

Advantages: great sound, snug fit Disadvantages: wire is longer for the right ear
These headphones are called the Sennheiser CX300, they are in ear headphones that will never fall out of your ear. They provide great sound and block outside noise so you don't have to listen to your music with background noise.
Sound Quality

The sound quality on these Sennheiser headphones is awesome. You get lots of bass and the music sounds good. You will be listening to tracks you know well and be hearing new sounds with ... ...coming!!!
Comfort
------------
The Sennheiser CX300 are very comfortable, the headphones come with three different sets of earbuds (small, medium, large). The earbuds are soft and there is three sizes so you one of them will fit. Surprisingly after having the headphones in for a couple of hours my ears weren't aching like they normally do with other headphones. I think this is down to the earbuds being soft and having a nice fit. Just be sure ...

Advantages: Bass driven, clear sound and noise-cancelling. Disadvantages: Expensive for headphones, but worth it.
...I decided to purchase the Sennheiser CX300 headphones as they were only £17.99 on Play.com and I had a voucher to use. So a few days after ordering, they arrived. It then took me another month to get through the packaging, Sennheiser obviously do not want you to return this item with its original packaging!
After wresting with the packaging, it was finally time to see what the hype was all about. Immediately I was impressed. They advertise that ... ...to make is that the Sennheiser CX300's make the bass stand out much more. Which is great. There are some fantastic basslines out there and we deserve to hear them.
They also make the music much clearer as a whole and the music is further enhanced by the noise-cancelling attributes of the headphones which cancel out around 95% of all background noise. This can be a bit dangerous when crossing the road, but it's the music that matters. The in-ear ...

...days later, packaged in the sennheiser box and are definately real.
i chose the black earphones over the white or silver, partly because i found them cheaper and also because they looked far more stylish in black.
when i took them out of the box and immediately tried them in my ears, they fitted perfectly... i then checked the two other sizes of ear plug to see if either were a better fit and eventually decided the middle size were best. each sized ... ...for my ears
on to the details.. with any new piece of kit i like to test it in as many ways as possible, so i listened to many genres of music off my ipod through them to see how they performed, this was the best was to work out how well they played the more bassy music and also the more trebley stuff... after the first song i was amazed, with both ear phones in my head filled with music, and the earphones clearly picked out the high notes, as well ...

Advantages: Excellent sound quality, comfort and value for money Disadvantages: Some people may think they are overpriced for earphones but they are well worth it.
These baby's are really worth the money. Sennheiser have developed earphones that can block out all other sound. I have been using these with my ipod and they are MUCH better than the standard IPOD earphones. Music is unbelievably clear and you can really pick out things in songs that couldnt be heard before with regular earphones. In my opinion, these are also great for use in the gym while exercising and for me, they have lasted for nearly a year without any damage.
They are top of the range earphones and sennheiser is known to be one of the best companies for audio products. In my opinion, they are the best earphones I have ever had. Also check out the sennheiser large headphones as they are also very high quality. ...
Advantages: Rich sound & deep bass Disadvantages: None really
I wanted to upgrade my pair of cheap in ear headphones to something which provided a deeper sound range & better bass but was still affordable. I did orginally look into the idea of buying tradional over the head ones but they seem to suffer with sound leakage issues which I wasn't keen on as I was mostly going to be using them in the office. So after considering a number of alternatives, I decided to opt for the CS 300-II's which I managed to purchase for £25. For the price, they are hugely impressive & I can notice a huge difference from my previous headphones. They provide great sound clariety & a deep and reach base, as well as providing a noice cancelling function which is unusual in headphones of this price. They come with a set of different sized ear buds so you can choose the one which is most comfortable. For the money, I think ...
Advantages: This doesn't have room, this has aircraft hangars. Great iPod Disadvantages: Few small problems, nothing major though
thought about unless you have a case for them. I was very careful with mine and after about 3 days, scratches started to creep in. no, it's covered in scratches. Luckily none on the screen. Another thing, mine crashed and wiped everything off the iPod side of it, so I lost all music and video. However, I didn't lose the applications stored on the disk. Finally, it can be very slow at times, it can take a while for album covers to load in cover flow and sometimes the wheel can be a bit unresponsive. Actually, add to the list of negatives, the headphones are crap. I seriously recommend investing in some top headphones if you are to fully enjoy the sound quality of this little devce. SennheiserCX300 wouldn't be a bad choice.
Other than that, it's a damn fine product. Well worth spending £200 on. ...
