I have owned and tried various types of Sennheiser headphones, mostly for djing purposes but I also wanted a fairly cheap pair I could use to listen to music at home or to use with my ipod so I decided to cheack out some of the pairs that weighed in at around the £20-£30 mark.
The Sennheiser HD 437 model was one of the first pairs I tried as I thought they looked pretty good. Surely they'd make me look even more stylish if I wrapped them around my head?
These are very comfortable headphones and I seriously doubt that they would cause any discomfort if they were to be worn for a long period of time. The earphone cups fit nicely over my ears and block out some background noise (always useful).
The clarity of the music was very good but I felt that, at times, the bass could be slightly overpowering. After turning the bass settings down on my ipod I found these worked well and went to a nice volume level without much distortion of the song.
The major downside to these is the build quality. These headphones don;t feel like they will stand up to a battering and, as a public transport commuter in London, they would definitely be getting some abuse. The wires used feel a bit too flimsy and I'm not convinced that they would stand the test of time.
I'm a firm believer in the old saying that 'you get what you pay for' so it would be worth investing a few more pounds and getting a superior pair.
Advantages: Comfortable, Long chord, lightweight Disadvantages: Quite big, very loud
...a tight budget, then the Sennheiser HD437 headphones are definitely for you. Coming at you for £19.99 R.R.P they deliver plenty of bass, good for Electronica, but also perform well with Rock and Pop type music. The modern design of the headphones makes them look just as good as they sound. However for comfort these just will not be beaten, i have about 5 or 6 pairs of headphones in my house, these are by far the most comfortable and best sounding ... ...winder with belt clip is also to be pointed out. I'Ve found the belt clip very useful when using these headphones out and about with a CD or MP3 player as you dont want 3m of chord around your legs. Ive used these out and about, also i used them with my computer and home stereo and i they handle anything i throw at them, at any volume. if you were to buy these headphones i would have to say challenge them, you will see what impressive durability ...
