Bargain hunting!------- I searched ALL over for the best price, eventually got it down, popular comparison shopping search sites did it!! You may well find well know retailers to be more expensive with these.
Packaging-------- The cardboard box it came in, was so well built that a Jewson's delivery lorry could reverse over it and each ear phone would be still intact (hehe...just...don't try it!!) It also had that lovely new smell when you open it! The design is good and practical, there is just one rubber cable to the LH ear, and its well sealed. The cable quality is good and durable with a gold plated plug with adapter. Cable length is ideal; not too long or too short. So if your favourite seat isn't too far away from your hifi stack, this is perfect! It comes with a smart hook, so you can proudly hang them up on your hifi rack or bookcase for easy access.
Quality---------- As with majority of high quality sound products, you cant judge them on the first day, you need to wear them in. After a little while its personality began to shine Big Time, wahooo!! HD595's response in the bass area comes to life; it is stable, confident and really excites the senses and makes you feel proud! These are open-ear design, so they have a more spacious sound. Only one caution, other people can hear you if its loud enough!! The higher frequencies are also exceptionally stable and no signs of distortion or harmonic distortion in the upper Khz areas, such as Opera singing. I have listened from Girls Aloud, Madonna, Celine Dion - Handel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and spoken voice. If you are really a classical music lover, and like flat responses, these may not be the best, but for exceptionally high quality listening without distortion these really are worth the money. Listening to DVD's is a treat, DVD Audio, Music DVD's come out tops so does Digital Radio. Overall they feel good to wear over a long period and have an adjustable fitting. They may not have the wow factor in style like some makes, but they feel so comfortable and sound so special and dont break the bank for an audophile range - a real treat for the ears.
Advantages: Free Headphone Mount for Table Disadvantages: Loud on the outside too
I bought these to use with my soon to arrive electronic drum kit and so far have tested with numerous genres of music from Drum 'n' Bass to Heavy Metal to Classical.
The reason I chose these is because of the frequency range they are capable of as I know they will have to deal with a wide range of percussion sounds. The range shows in any genre.
Bass is prominent yet refined while the high end is clear at even the top scale of my amps volume. These ... ...a replacement for my humble Tannoy bookshelfs. As far as value for money is concerned I'd rate these highly even without testing them on the application they are intended for.
I cant wait to experience the invloved and intense sounds these can produce while going mad on a silent drumkit for hours on end due to the very comfy ear pieces.
One thing I should mention is that if you are looking to buy headphones that wont disturb someone in the same ...

which you can put over the ear buds, which I have however never used yet. The rest of the headphone construction is also excellent, they are water- and sweat proof (both of which are important for me), and very rugged. A 1.2m long cable is attached which is also more than sufficient. The only detail that should be pointed out is that the headphones are bright orange in colour, which isn't necessarily the most subtle available. The packaging of the headphones is also interesting: namely an all cardboard, fully recyclable box, with minimal use of plastic.
Sound
The sound quality from these headphones is quite good, which is quite nice seeing as sound quality wasn't an important factor for me in choosing sports headphones. However, it is slightly pale in comparison to my SennheiserHD595 can's which I use at home (which are however one ...
Advantages: Great sound quality, comfortable Disadvantages: Long cable, large connector, slight lack of bass
Introduction
Sennheiser are a well known name in the music industry in terms for high quality, producing mainly headphones and microphones, both for businesses and personal use.
The HD555s are one of Sennheiser's "audiophile" offerings according to the website, sitting between the HD515 and the HD595.
Currently selling for £69.99, these are hardly the cheapest headphones, but with so many rave reviews around I decided it was worth at least trying them out.
Features
Most of the headphones specifications go straight over my head, so instead I'll quote the features list:
" * Enjoy music in a completely new way: ?Eargonomic acoustic refinement? (E.A.R.) design channels the audio signal directly into your ears
* Advanced Duofol diaphragm technology almost eliminates standing waves inside the capsule
* Optimized ...
Advantages: Amazing sound quality, well built, records straight to Mp3, S/PDIF, microphone, good battery life, playlist creation, backup compact flash cards Disadvantages: Big and clumpy (feels worse than a Zen!), poor Mac support, poor interface buttons, starburst features (photo wallet) need download for older versions
provided make you realise why you need some sort of equalizer to try and overcome the flat music. The music also had a more confused and subdued sound. The Zen fares slightly better, and the headphones are relatively comfortable, but as with all stock earphones both devices sound equally poor.
Audio with SennheiserHD595:
Both devices really did shine with proper headphones. The Gmini was now sounding audibly excellent with clear tones, no crosstalk, silence really is silent (SNR = 90dB). Even for these headphones, the power output of the device was enough to become painful at times. The Zen too is equally good, but the onboard processing does a lot more for improving the sound and warmth of music when wanted.
Recording:
The Zen can?t do this without a remote, but the microphone in the Gmini was relatively good and the encoding rates ...
