I bought these to use with my soon to arrive electronic drum kit and so far have tested with numerous genres of music from Drum 'n' Bass to Heavy Metal to Classical.
The reason I chose these is because of the frequency range they are capable of as I know they will have to deal with a wide range of percussion sounds. The range shows in any genre.
Bass is prominent yet refined while the high end is clear at even the top scale of my amps volume. These babies can take some hammering. Ive started using them as a replacement for my humble Tannoy bookshelfs.
As far as value for money is concerned I'd rate these highly even without testing them on the application they are intended for.
I cant wait to experience the invloved and intense sounds these can produce while going mad on a silent drumkit for hours on end due to the very comfy ear pieces.
One thing I should mention is that if you are looking to buy headphones that wont disturb someone in the same room (who's watching Eastenders) at high volumes look elsewhere. But all in all top notch.

Advantages: Amazing sound quality, well built, records straight to Mp3, S/PDIF, microphone, good battery life, playlist creation, backup compact flash cards Disadvantages: Big and clumpy (feels worse than a Zen!), poor Mac support, poor interface buttons, starburst features (photo wallet) need download for older versions
