I bought these as an upgrade to replace the dreadful looking headphones that came with my MP3 player. The Mx500s came highly recommended by a number of trusted sources who praised their sonic abilities, and in that respect they didn't disappoint. A detailed sound with good levels of bass for such a small unit. I also liked their understated appearance and the useful spool-in case.

However, the main drawback (for me at least) is the fact that the damned things do not stay in my ears. My ears may be slightly on the large size, but not freakishly so. No matter how I position them or jam them in, they are absolutely guaranteed to fall out after a minute or so of light walking. As for wearing them down the gym - forget it!

I have also noticed that the foam earpiece covers have started to split after just week of use, which may be brought on by my constant fiddling, but which I feel is completely unacceptable from a top name like Sennheiser
