The Sennheiser MX 500earphones aren't the best earphones that sennheiser have ever made. They don't fit too well into some people's ears and the little covers for the speakers that they come with are virtually useless, but if you're looking for some cheap headphones maybe as a temporary solution or just something you might not use everyday, these headphones are probably your best bet.
On the posotive side, these headphones produce very high quality sound in comparison to the price you pay for them. As with all in ear headphones you tend to hear more of the treble-y sounds more than the bass-y sounds, but the bass frequencies are still there, and compared with other headphones of the same price I would say that you get the greatest range of sounds from these. They also come with a handy case to put them in which also retracts the lead (takes a while to get used to using them).
However, on the negative side, you can spend a while fiddiling around with the case attempting to put the heapdhones back into it (when it's probably just easier to put them in your pocket). They have a tendancy to fall out of your ear if you're doing anything more vigorous than walking (or if you have big ears, which a other people who have wrote reviews for this product do have).
The elastic dust/dirt covers that come with the headphones which you have to stretch to put on them are fiddly to put on and fall off more more easily (I lost both of mine within two days of using these heapdhones). And because these covers are virtually the only source of grip that the headphones have with your ear, it makes them very loose in your ear once you've lost them.
Overall I'd give these headphones 5 out of 10; they're not the worst headphones I've ever used, but at the same time they could be improved in many ways.
