The Sennheiser PC 151 Headset was designed specifically for avid gamers who want to avoid disturbing anyone (neighbours and family) from the noise created by speakers. This particular headset will be perfect for gamers who tend to play for long hours as the headphones as well as the head strap are padded with a soft cushion material, intended to provide maximum comfort.
Although, designed specifically for gamers, the Sennheiser headset can be used for other purposes such as listening to music on a mobile phone or mp3 player on the go as well as for any other use. With the addition of a microphone protruding out of the ear phone on the left, gamers can now talk to their gaming buddies whilst playing their games.
This also means that they
would not have to buy two separate devices (headphone + microphone) in order to fully enjoy an online multi player game. Other than gaming, the headset can be used to listen/talk with friends and relatives via an online instant messaging service such as Yahoo or MSN. Other uses for the microphone include voice recording, speech to text conversion and also using your PC or laptop via speech commands.
You will obviously need specific software to allow you to do things such as speech to text conversion and computer control via speech commands. Such programs can be found and downloaded via the Internet. The microphone is adjustable allowing you to adjust the position of the microphone to best suit you. The microphone adjustment is one that only allows you to rotate the microphone on a swiveling base, this means that the microphone can only be moved up or down.
So if the microphone seems to be further away from your mouth than accepted than you will be unable to shorten the length of the microphone. This can be seen as a disadvantage in some ways, but is not very significant in the overall performance of the headset. This is because the microphone will still pick up and transmit speech effectively, regardless of it being a short distance away from the mouth.
The Sennhesier PC 152 Headset is perfect for video chat or video conferencing as it will provide crisp and clear audio output as well as allowing you to talk to your fellow friends and family. The noise canceling feature on the headset means that none or very little sound will escape or enter the headphones giving you a perfect, hassle free sound experience. The only downside to this is that if you are in your bedroom listening to some music on the headset, you will most probably not be able to hear anyone calling you for any particular reason.
Other features included on the headset are a mute button and volume control buttons. The mute button is perfect for quickly muting sound when not needed and the volume control buttons remove the need of using the PC, laptop or any other audio/video output device to decrease or increase sound levels. The volume control buttons are great for increasing and decreasing sound levels when in the middle of a game, thus removing the need for a gamer to close down or minimize a game in order to change sound levels.
Another great thing about the headphones is that it is compatible with Skype, which is an instant messaging service just like MSN and Yahoo, but is mainly designed for the use of voice chatting. The Sennheiser PC 151 headset is perfect for such a program and will make the voice chat experience all the more personal.

Th e headset is wired and comes with a 3 m cable giving you the ability to sit back and enjoy any audio experience, unless you want to sit more than 3 metres away from the experience. Sound sensitivity in decibels on the headset is 114 decibels, which is more than enough to damage your ear drums. Although you can listen to sound at 114 decibels, it is unsafe and damaging. The highest operating sound output is 100 decibels for most human beings, anything over that will cause damage to your ear drums and in the process your hearing, which means that you may have to wear hearing aids.
The headset is typically priced at around £30 - £60. looking at the provided features you can see that you are getting a bargain if you buy the headset for around £30 - £40. If you search on Ebay you may be able to find the headset for less than £30, Amazon Marketplace is a good option for cheap goods so have a look around there as well before you intend to buy.
Overall the headset is a brilliant device for virtually everyone. It is conveniently priced and provides a good range of features. The only downside to the headset is the pain you feel on your ears after long use. But then again this is existent for all headsets and no one should be using a computer for long periods of time anyway.
