Sennheiser have a great reputation for making great benchmark headphones, and this reputation is added to with the PX100. Given 5 star and rated as best budget headphones by 'What hi-fi?', I strong urge you to consider buying new headphones.
As the portable audio product market has become more price competitive, and the quality of sound has increased I have seen that companies are reducing the cost spent on headphones when they should be increased to utilize the full performance of the unit.
I bought these Sennheiser PX100 6 months ago for my Apple ipod, 4th generation and have been delighted with them. The quality of earbuds that come with mp3 players for example, are adequate but you can improve your portable listening immensely with by purchasing this product. The quality of sound is signifcantly better than that supplied with the ipod, or sony mini discs. Clarity is greater, and there is a larger range, better for bass and tighter on trebble. The headphones can go pretty loud too! Other headphones can, but the Sennheiser PX100 quality shines, with no distortion to the music.
One advantage to using earphones over headphones is portability. Headphones can't be thrown into a pocket or a bag without breaking. Sennheiser have addressed this issue, and the Sennheiser PX100 are suppilied with a solid case. The actual headphones fold compactly, and fit in a small case. Excellent to throw into a work or school bag.
The build of the headphones are excellant, the design is neat, and are very comfortable to use. I don't know if other user's ears hurt after using earbuds for a long period of time, but mind do. I experience great pleasure in using my Sennheiser PX100 for long periods of listening to music.
So in conclusion, I strongly urge you to consider purchasing better quality headphones for your portable audio device. You will instantly notice a much great audio performance, increasing the enjoyment of your music player. I bought the Sennheiser PX100 for just £29.99, which may appear expensive, but they are durable, include a case and will pricelessy increase your music experience!

Advantages: Colour screen makes browsing easier, and allows display of album artwork, and photos. Disadvantages: Uploading the album art can slow the iPod, and takes up space for music.
