After angling for a pair of these for my birthday, my luck was in on the day when I unwrapped my wife's present to find these staring back at me!

As you'd expect with Sennheiser, the build quality is good. The base unit is well-designed and sturdy, with a couple of switches discreetly positioned at the bottom. The headphones are also well-built and comfortable, resting elegantly on the base unit's cradle to receive their charge. (The unit comes with a pair of rechargeable batteries as standard.)

Using the headphones themselves is extremely simple: plug the base unit into a "sound source", click the "tuning" button on the headphones and wait until it finds the signal. However, if you're in a house with a lot of other wireless signals, you'll most likely need to choose a different "channel" using the switch on the front of the base unit to find the best signal. It should be noted that the headphone jack on the base unit is also of a good quality, and comes with a gold-plated adapter to allow for use in any device.

The volume can then be adjusted either at the source or via a dial on the headphones themselves. You'll most likely finding yourself adjusting both to get the balance right. (As an aside, there is also a "balance" button the headphones, to allow you to choose the left/right mix. As you'd expect, there's a "click marker" you turn the dial that indicates dead-centre.)

I had my headphones plugged into my Amp, listening to the TV. Sound quality is good (both bass and treble) and will be more than adequate for most people's needs. The quality does drop off if you leave the room that the base unit is in, although I live in a property with solid stone walls, so your own results may vary depending on your layout.

The battery-life is also fine, with no drop-off in quality during several hours' use. It's then back onto the cradle to allow trickle-charging overnight.

So, overall, I'm very happy with these headphones. There are no doubt plenty of audiophiles out there who would perhaps recommend other products but for the rest of us, and at this price, they are excellent.
