Bush DFTA 2 Freeview Set top box
Advantages: Price isnt bad Disadvantages: Its Bush
...To be honest I hate Bush with a vengeance. They have been around since my childhood, and in those days you could buy a Bush personal stereo with batteries and headphones for less than a fiver.. To summarise, Bush products in those days were disposable. It wasnt worth the time and effort to try and get it repaired, you just threw it in the bin and bought another one for less than a fiver again.
I do admit to buying this model just because it was ... ...outer shell for it, but Bush seem to have had a flashback to their disposable days. That said, it does exactly what it is designed to do, so in that respect its difficult to moan to much about it.
Summary then, certainly better than some of the more expensive Freeview boxes, very easy to set up and install but it lets itself down on build quality. I cant really comment on how long it will last because I have only had it a couple of months. Fingers ...

Easy to use and install, last for at least two years
Advantages: Very easy to install and use Disadvantages: may last for just more than two years, only five slots for timed recordings
...Based on this I recommend Bush box to other people. Latest strange behaviour: It is now showing signs of ageing and may be approach the end of its life. The first symptom is the occasional lost of sound with good picture reception and signal strength. The on-off button on the box did not help. The cure is by switching it off from the mains and then back on. Also, the 'red button' function is erratic. Sometimes it refuses to work. However this may ... ...notice that this box is capable of adding 'extra' BBC red button sports channels automatically e.g. 301, 302. So the 'red button' function is changing with the TV providers and to certain point the older generation of set top box may not be able to cope i.e. a newer box is required. I have now started to look for another box. Any suggestion is appreciated. ...

Bush DFTA11 for those with limited budget
Advantages: Cheap, SCART lead included, Standard size with compact Remote Control, Stylish blue theme Disadvantages: A bit acceptable delay
...via internet transaction (like ebay), Bush DFTA11 is the one that I choose. The reasons are (1) one SCART lead included (2) support both Now&Next and 7days (3) size is not too big (but also not small as other brands).
After testing for two days, it supports both EPGs as mentioned by just adjusting in the main menu (I wonder why others have complained that it doesn't). All TV programs can be seen through the Guide button or Menu button. TV screen ... ...another size between these). However, since I still use a cheap indoor aerial (just a circled wire come with TV), I get different sets of channels for the First Time setup for each time I adjust my aerial from one position to another (Yes, you can easily reset all of your channels by pressing a few buttons within 5 minutes). Sometimes I've got the set of BBCs (BBC1,2,3,CBBC,etc.), E4+1, film4, Skys (Three,SportNews,News), but sometimes I've got the ...

Simplistic yet annoying
Advantages: Small, Lightweight, Simple, Easy to use Disadvantages: No buttons on box, software problems
I bought this box nearly 2 christmases ago. It was going cheap and i decided i needed either sky or this to replace the analog signal i was using in my room. When i bought this, there were far fewer channels but the quality of the channels astounded me. It was like having a brand new telly as i was used to interference on the terrestrial signal. I was disappointed though with the variety of channels and the lack of features on this box. The box itself ... ...or break the remote then you've had it until you go and buy a new remote.
Setting up the box is simple. Once the mains and aerial is plugged, simply press the standby button on the remote (top right corner, has red markings on it, cant really miss it) and it asks you to set the aspect ratio (16:9 for widescreen or 4:3 for normal). This setting can be changed later on. It then asks you whether it should automatically search for new channels ( best ...

Does exactly what it says on the tin
Advantages: All the features you'd expect from a low-spec freeview adapter Disadvantages: Occasional crashes
I find that reviewing a freeview box is somewhat difficult, as there's not an awful lot of discerning features between low-end boxes. It decodes digital, it has audio and features text. So those aside I'll try and go into a bit more detail...
The DFTA1000 is a simple adapter for your television, it plugs into the back of your TV (using a SCART socket) oncee plugged in you never have to set eyes on it again. It's a standard plug-and-play adapter, ... ...downloads channel listings, sets up personal settings (subtitles, tv format etc) with minimum effort. It has an IR extender (with a sitcky pad so it can be put relatively out of sight) for remote control usage.
Though the software can be buggy at times; remote commands taking much longer than you'd expect and regular software crashes (heightened by the use of subtitles for some reason) are common, which seems to be a recurrent theme with most low-end ...
