Organise your viewing with the Humax PVR8000T/80
Review of Humax PVR8000T by Poispinner

Advantages: Easy recording/playback
Disadvantages: None found so far

...are looking for. The Humax PVR8000T/80 is a combined set-top box and hard-drive recorder, with enough space for around 40 hours of TV. To organise you viewing week, all you need to do is browse the 7-day TV guide and press OK to choose the programmes you want to record. Then when you have some "me-time" to spare, all your programmes will be stored, ready to watch. You can pause a programme if you need to go and answer the phone, or rewind it if ...
...of TV channels. The Humax looks good (simple but sleek) and is very easy to set up (just plug it in and switch it on). Navigating around the TV guide takes a bit of getting used to and sometimes you have to wait a few seconds for all the programmes to load, but other than that recording/playback is very easy. Overall, the Humax is reasonably priced and does exactly what it says on the box. Now I can watch TV exactly when it suits me. ... Read review

Never watch adverts again
Review of Humax PVR9200T by spaghetti_ginger

Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: EPG takes a while to load

...baby into our household! Humax is supposed to have ability to play mp3s and show photos but this does not work - from Humax forum sites it seems that this is a common occurrence. However, the main function of the Humax is to record tv and it does this well, sound and picture quality is good. There is a slot which enables you to upgrade to Setanta Sports (or top up tv - but there is only the one slot). The box looks sleek and shiny and has been ... Read review

Great - apart from the setting up...
Review of Humax PVR9200T by clarebarker

Advantages: really easy to use, record two things at once
Disadvantages: setting it up took ages

Our old VCR broke ages ago, and we never bothered replacing it, as we could watch DVDs on the playstation, and there never seemed to be anything on worth watching! However, we decided it was about time we replaced the old VCR, and this seemed the best option. Once we'd managed to get it all tuned in and working, it was great, but getting there was a bit of a hassle. Firstly not all channels would work (in particular ITV channels didn't work). Then ...
...past and it would all be messed up again (and a lot of lorries drive past our house!). After a few software upgrades, a bit of aerial fiddling, and a lot of patience, it does now work perfectly, all channels. Now it does work, it's very useful, you can record two things at once, or record on one channel and watch another, which is great when there are people in the household with different tastes! The TV guide is also really easy to use, and you ... Read review

The Right Set Top Box for the Hobbyist
Review of Humax IRC5400 by kurun

Advantages: Flexible and well supported
Disadvantages: Although still in production, it's been around for quite some time

...are different models of the Humax 5400, the one I have may be connected to a computer via the RS232 port. Through this link one can re-program the unit with software other than the one that it is shipped with. On the net one can also find software that enables one to modify or sort the channel list easier by the use of a PC. Other software available for the Humax is for modifying PMT tables so that one may be able to recieve newly launched channels. ...
...The Humax is a nice and flexible Set Top Box (STB). It is well suited for the hobbyist and for those who are not afraid to experiment in order to get that something extra. However, if you don't fall in the above category, a simple STB might suit you better. ... Read review

Good STB for first time users
Review of Humax MG-TU1 by ma_siddiqui

Advantages: Easy going STB with no Fancy stuff
Disadvantages: It is not really upgradable

...recommend this STB to some professional who uses TV extensively. Humax has cut down the extras in this to make it more affordable like it has one slot, does not have any CAS (conditional access system) like connax, Viacess, iredeto etc. It supports interactivity and teletext and has MHEG engine. ...
