Sky plus HD The future????

Advantages: Much larger HDD means more recording capacity at SD and about the same in HD.
Disadvantages: Not too many "Regular" channels, but hey, they will come in time.

I recently bought outright a Sky plus HD box as I didn't wish to renew my contract, but wanted to make use of the High Definition TV on the wall. To start, the installation was simple, just a case of unplug the old Sky plus box and plumb in the new HD box. A straight swap with the exception of a HDMI lead instead of a scart. Hitachi HDR253 digital TV recorder

Advantages: Good value, 120 hours recording
Disadvantages: No live replay, slow to start-up, slow to pause, poor program guide format

I bought this unit a few days ago, because my old unit died after 5 years. I wouldn't buy another British made unit, because the one just died had many small problems from day one. Satellite TV at a bargain price

Advantages: An economical way to get a wide range of channels
Disadvantages: You could end up with a dish you don't need

After reading lots of bad reviews about this box I looked for others, as i couldn't find any for the same sort of money i thought i would try it and send it back if i didnt like it.
