Advantages: An intriguing and exciting book Disadvantages: The central character is unusual, meaning he's a little hard to empathise with
This book is excellent as a companion to Ender's Game, showing many of the same events from a new perspective. It's always interesting when writers put a new light onto a scene or situation, and Card does this extremely well. Although readers of his other books might already know the ending, putting it all through Bean's eyes means that its gripping all the way through.
Bean is a very unusual character, and it can be a little strange to see things from his perspective, but it reveals something of our own humanity to do so. At first glance, its hard to relate the Bean of this story to the character introduced in Ender's Game, but Card's character developement makes him believable and likeable. The reader is rooting for him, even though its hard to understand him.
This book opens a door to a saga that is, while not as good as ...
Advantages: A great read, exciting and fulfilling, grips you till the end Disadvantages: Can't think of any off hand
Ender's Shadow is part of two different series - 'The Shadow Trilogy' and 'The Ender Series', and is written by OrsonScottCard. This book runs parallel to Ender's Game, starting and finishing in nearly the same place just from another character's point of view. It is also followed by 2 more shadow books which are not so closely linked to the Ender series although they are set in the same world. The next book in the Ender Series is set like 5000 years later so it's not suprising that they are not so closely linked.

Advantages: Great author, interesting premise Disadvantages: Hard to relate to central character
he got on in the politics on Earth as that would be uncharted territory.
Overall I would say that this is a decent read but it didn’t capture the human interest and pathos of Enders Game which took it above and beyond the standard adventure/sci-fi novel. I would recommend it to sci-fi fans as Scott-Card is an brilliant writter in that genre. I wouldn’t, unlike Enders Game, recommend it to those who aren’t too keen on sci-fi, like myself. In fact if you have read and enjoyed Enders Game then approach Enders Shadow with caution, it may damage your enjoyment of the first book. Thanks for reading! ...
