Therapeutic, tar-smelling, not that effective treacle

Advantages: Price and availability. May well work on light dandruff problems
Disadvantages: Not effective on serious scalp issues or those adverse to tar...

I've been using T/Gel for a while to combat my mild scalp psoriasis and continue to use it because it doesn't sting and is, SOMETIMES, effective. It all depends, for me, whether I use it in combination with other medication, what shampoo comes before and after (I rotate shampoos to stop scalp becoming too used to a certain type) etc... A treat for your scalp but not for your hair

Advantages: Does wonders for your scalp
Disadvantages: Pricey and not great for hair

For some weeks I'd been having an annoyingly itchy and flaky scalp, but no actual dandruff. Review of Neutrogena T/Gel Anti-Dandruff Dermatological Shampoo

Still using after ten years.. I love it!

Advantages: Smell, great result, not much needed for lovely hair
Disadvantages: Not for all hair types

This shampoo was recommended to me by a boss of mine ten years ago. She had very frizzy hair that tended to get greasy too (a horrible combination) so she used this every so often to solve the grease problem. I bought it because I used to suffer from greasy hair too ('til I found this stuff anyway...) and instantly fell for it. Guys can use this shampoo. Right?

Advantages: Smells nice, doesn't sting your eyes too much
Disadvantages: Colour

Review of Neutrogena Clean Replenishing Shampoo

T-errific Gel

Advantages: it works!
Disadvantages: none

...tar at 2%, but somehow Neutrogena have managed to make it less offensive. I used T-gel every day for a couple of months, and my psoriasis is now better on my scalp than I can remember, and my hair doesn't look like straw. Infact, it's pretty soft and in nice condidition. My patchy bits have cleared up and I only use the T'Gel now once a week or so to keep the little critters at bay, and I can use normal shampoo and conditioner the rest of the week ...
...part with the money. Another Neutrogena product gets the thumbs up. NB. This does come with warnings standard I believe to coal tar based products. It may discolour blonde hair, or cause sensitivity to sunlight etc. Which would be a bit of a bugger as sunlight is the one thing guaranteed to shift your psoriasis!
