Advantages: Simple but effective story. Great illustrations Disadvantages: None
...This is a great book in Allan Ahlberg's Fast Fox, Slow Dog series of books. I can't remember the number of times I have read this and how many times it has been asked for by the children. It's great!!
~ The story ~
Fast Fox wakes up and wants chicken, chips and peas for supper.
Mother Hen wakes up and her babies want corn for supper.
Slow Dog wakes up but just goes back to sleep again (what a life he must have, bliss!!)
Fast Fox looks in the freezer, where there are chips and peas but no chicken whilst Mother Hen finds that there is no corn in the house!
So the chickens go out to find corn and the fox goes out to find chicken. Neither are successful in their quest until.........at the place where the chickens find the corn, the foxfinds the chicken.
So begins a chase, the fox after the chickens, the mother after the fox...

Advantages: a true insight of the daily life of a hero Disadvantages: it is not just about M.Ali but also about what the writer goes through
...I bought many books on Mohammad Ali because I find the character truly amazing : the first modern icon, the first brand, the most recognisable face on Earth, and one if not the best boxer ever (especially in his early days).
I bought the book out of curiosity five years ago and from page one it grabbed me. I did read the book in one go.
Davis Miller's style is crystal clear, to the point; it sounds as if he is writing a letter to you.
His life is as boring as anybody except for the light that Mohammad Ali puts in it. Videos, articles, books, photos you name it, he has collected them all throughout his life.
What makes this book work is the paralell between the life of a star and a life of a fan : they nearly have the same age but they couldn't be more world apart if it wasn't for the dedication in the training they both had.
One day...

Advantages: Well written, amusing, sexy, fun, set in rural Louisiana with humans, vampires, shapeshifters Disadvantages: Having to waiting for the next book to be published
...Sookie Stackhouse is a barmaid telepath living in Louisiana; she becomes embroiled in the world of vampires who recently 'came out' as a race because of the invention of synthetic blood allowing them to survive without taking human blood.
The books follow her interaction with the vampire world because when the vampires discover her ability they of course want to use it for their own needs. This leads to her discovery of how many other creatures there are in the world such as the secretive werewolves and shapeshifters.
You follow Sookie through the pangs of finding your first love as well as the dangers in the underworld that most humans are not aware of.
The books are amusing, sexy, fun without having to resort to the gory details that some books seem to revel in, the balance between the light heartedness and the more detailed...
