The sharp has super funky 16 chord polyphonic ring tones that sound great and are the best on the market at the moment. This also includes a composer to do yourself. The ring tones that come preset in the phone are quite poor which is probably the main weakness of the phone. I would not really say they were "modern"!

You could say that im a "phoneaholic" as i own 3 and buy new ones soon as new technology comes out. Previously i had an Ericsson t68, which i found dull and the colour screen was quite poor. So i wanted a new gadget, a phone with a digital camera. So in stepped the Sharp gx1 into my life. It is silver and black.
APPEARANCE On first looks the phone appears to be quite big but actually i like to think of it more as compact. The phone is 13cm tall and 4 wide so isn’t huge. It is not much bigger than a nokia 3310 and weighs less. Considering the features the phone has it truly is small. The phone buttons are nicely spaced out so you wont find yourself pressing 2 keys at once! Look can be very deceiving!
FEATURES The gx1 has a built in 110 thousand pixel digital camera with 5 exposure levels and a 2X digital zoom. It can store up to 80 pictures. The clarity of the camera is great, some people in other opinions say its unclear and blurry, but maybe they expect it to be like there top of the range 3 million mega pixel digital camera they have at home! Its great for capturing those moments and holding pictures of friends etc. What ever you take the picture of you can set it as the wallpaper, or there is even a caller ID function whereby the picture of the person comes up when they ring. The screen is used as the viewfinder so you know where abouts you’re shooting! Also great at reminding yourself of things that you thought never happened!
It has a large 160*120 dot screen which is bigger than screens on all other mobiles which i have seen and comes with a whopping 65,536 colours, nearly covering the whole spectrum. Quality comes first with the sharp.
I was bored with the ring tones of the other phones that i have so this was another reason why i bought the GX1. The sharp has super funky 16 chord polyphonic ring tones that sound great and are the best on the market at the moment. This also includes a composer to do yourself. The ring tones that come preset in the phone are quite poor which is probably the main weakness of the phone. I would not really say they were "modern"!
The phone has some really great games on it, which you play in full colour. Games that come with the phone are Penalty shoot out (great) air hockey (good but hard) and collection hunter, which is very addictive.
The GX1 comes with all the features you would expect such as voice memo, full organiser, GPRS WAP Internet, calculator, MMS where you can send pictures and sound to other mobiles.
You can download ring tones, screensavers and wallpaper off the internet which is great. Unfortunately a downfall of the phone is that it does not have java where you can download games.
The phone is very easy to use and works in similar ways to nokia phones with the simple icon navigation with sub-categories within them. If you have never used a nokia then it’s very easy! For example to store a picture for instance you do not have to faf about you just hold the ‘M’ key.
Standby time is 300 hours, which is large. Talk time is 270 minutes, which is no real problem for me as i do not spend much time ringing people. Charge time is low at only 2 hours. The phone is reasonably robust as long as you treat it with respect.
OVERVIEW If you want a phone that’s sleek sexy and stylish then this is the one you’ve been looking for! The phone has some great features and the camera is not makeshift like the poor one on the Sony Ericsson t68i, which I have used. Sharp have done themselves proud. A superb phone. 11 out of 10! Certainly one of the best phones on the market.
The phone is avaliable on 02 pay and go for £199.99 or sim free for around £300.
Advantages: small slimline and not too heavy. Disadvantages: over all not a good design and poor features.
Take a look at the Sharp GX1 and you will see, that it has a slim design , not at all chunky as you would expect for a phone that has a small digital camera integrated into the back, not as lightweight as some but still not over the top and makes your pocket drag on the floor. First brought onto the phone scene by O2, but they are now wide spread to find on places such as eBay, unlocked and on all networks, so to find one on your network should no ... ...for mine on eBay and to be honest was just glad to get rid of my old phone the Samsung A300 flip. The menu system is not to easy to work out, but once you do it’s all a wiz, the ring tones that are already on the phone as standard are nothing to shout about but hey as long as you know you have a call coming in! You can however for a price download the new craze of polyphonic ring tones via your phone, but to me that was not all that important and ...

I DON'T LIKE IT! Ok? I thought I did but I don't. This was the monstrosity I purchased before I got my new Nokia, and I'm SOOO glad that I took it back. I never thought that i'd need to use 02's 14 day money back guarantee, but I managed to get fed up with this phone in half that time! Goodbye and good riddance.
Ok, let's be reasonable. I'll give the GX1 a fair trial. I must have liked it once, right? I bought the handset for two reasons only: 1) ... ...2) Because it was cheap.
It has all the toys though, a full colour screen, polyphonic ringtones (now far more widely available) games (downloadable), gallery for storing loads of pics, and all the features you'd find on other phones. It does look quite good. It's a bit larger than other phones on the market, but it 'appears' to be well put together, and of a reasonable quality. And at first I was quite impressed. The truth of the matter however ...

Advantages: Polyphonic tones, built in camera, colour screen Disadvantages: A bit on the big side, easily damaged
The Sharp GX1, originally released exclusively through the o2 website, now widely available, is, in basic terms, a good handset.
Being the first generally affordable media messaging handset with BUILT IN camera, you would think that it would have recieved much better advertising than the absolute zero that I have seen.
This is a pretty cool looking handset, with all the latest features- 16 chord polyphonic ringtones, colour screen(65,536 colour),THAT ... ...your make-many sites don't list sharp yet-but the tones still work fine if that is your thang.
The camera is a good novelty which can soon wear off.
There is no flash & you have to have very steady hands in order to get the pic in focus.
The camera has a limited zoom, which,in all honesty, sucks.
You can store up to 80 photos in the memory-which is probably where they will stay due to the cost of MMS messages!
Another minor gripe I should bring ...

Advantages: Full picture format support, built in camera, GPRS, WAP & IR Connection Disadvantages: Large compared to modern mobiles, display fails sometimes
The Sharp GX1 mobile phone is sheer sex on legs, or so i thought when i handed the shop assistant £600 and got 2 GX1 boxes handed back. (ones for the girlfriend as i wasnt allowed to buy one unless i got her one too!, yeah i know, under the thumb.)
Upon opening and the very easy plugging in and setting up, i faithfully pressed the power on button and watched the phone spring in to life and i was in no way dissapointed! i nearly sprung into life ... ...the latest nokia and the Sharp GX10 (flip phone) and this phone won by miles. Ok, you wont get holiday snap quality, but then you wernt expecting too rite! But compared to all the others, including thier own GX10 model, sharp seems to have used a much better camera, and better software to obtain better picture quality.
Also the software and bugs have been improved since the GX10 model was introduced. The downside is that on the two phones i have, ...

Advantages: Polyphonic ringtones, large screen, decent camera Disadvantages: Infrared poor, earpiece volume low
The camera is obviously not equivilant to a top of the range digital camera but for a phone it is decent. Fairly good snaps of the subject can be taken in good light and if the subject does not move. It has a decent digital zoom and the phone can store a great deal of photos. Also you can make people's photos flash up when they phone you! Not a great deal of use but very entertaining( for a week, at least.)
The polyphonic ringtones are good and ... ...earpiece volume is very low, however and the chances of hearing anyone in a busy room are slim.
The Wap function is easy to navigate and in general, very good.
The infrared is virtually useless, it can be used as a modem for your laptop but beaming to other mobiles or PDAs is not possible. A data cable is available but is about £40.
The screen is very large and clear. The phone itself looks very bulky but really isn't.
In general if you get offered ...

Advantages: small, compact, very easy to use Disadvantages: small keys
It took me three months to pick my new phone. And what a phone it is! After a brief spell with the clumsy SharpGX1, the Nokia is a work of art. So simple to use, beautiful to look at and all the toys a gadget-freak could want!
The advent of full colour has opened up a whole new avenue in mobile phone technology, and the 6100's clear well laid out screens and menus mean that a complete novice can use the phone in minutes. The polyphonic ringtones sound lovely, and downloadable games add to the fun. Having owned 9 phones now, this really is by far the best handset I've used. The calendar, text messages, and phone numbers can be accessed with just one key, making texting and calling a very slick process.
Useful Features: Wallet (for personal information)
Downloadable ringtones, graphics and games, loudspeaker function, gallery ...

Advantages: stylish, fun, great features Disadvantages: poor camera quality
As you may have read from my previous opinion i am phone mad, and change them as regularly as my boxers! Previously i had a sharpgx1 and got bored so i went to my local phone shop (the link) and bought this. I wasn't to be disappointed.
OHHHHH BEHAVE YOU SEXY LITTLE MINX
The Motorola t720i truly is a sexy minx. It has a silver chrome finish and is in a clam shape design. The phones 'M' (Motorola logo) looks very stylish with a metal finish and it also doubles to be the speaker. There is a small stubby Ariel which is great as you haven?t got one of those ones that?s like a twig glued on to the end which stabs you in your pocket. There are two LCD screens a small one on the outside of the phone, which displays time/date/messages etc, which is very useful, as you do not have to open the phone.
On the whole the phone is quite small ...

Advantages: excellent picture quality and easy to use. Disadvantages: small outer display.
After being so disappointed myself with my SharpGX1, I was a little unsure when to my horror my younger sister told me she had bought the SharpGX10. She had paid £180 for this phone on eBay and was so excited about her new phone that I didn?t express my fears to her, instead offering to give this phone the benefit of the doubt being the next up inline of the sharp family of phones.
When the phone arrived I instantly took to its design, it may be a flip phone something I have been against in the past for the very fragile nature, but this flip from first glance and inspection was of very high quality and made to last more than just normal wear and tear. It is more of a square looking phone with only a small outer display which I found to be a let down, and small antenna but still quite versatile looking for the more business type ...

The Sharp GX1 is stylish, smart and compact. It is the first camera phone offering from Sharp that has a built in 110K pixel digital camera with five exposure levels and a 2-stage digital zoom with storage for up to eighty digital pictures. The GX1 has a 65, 536-color display a GFC (Glass Fine Color) LCD, along with 16-chord polyphonic ringing tones. The Sharp GX1 allows you to communicate in style!
