If anybody said that this is just the normal average phone, they ought to think twice. The Sharp GX20 is in my opinion the most lucrative phone ever to grace on British land. Its features are second to none and it is difficult to criticise such an innovative phone.
I bought this phone at a mere £350 from my local shopping centre, hoping to get the utmost in quality by the so-called “ultimate phone”. Having opened the box, I could not believe the small size for a phone which had numerous sophisticated features. First of all, the most complimentary feature is the camera. It surpasses all similar technology advances of its kind (e.g. Nokia7250) to bring you a camera supporting a screen capable of 65,000 colours and an ultra high-resolution of 480x640, bringing you each and every pixel in complete precision. Unlike the previous GX10 phone, the lens is accompanied
by a flash. With its use, pictures can be taken in dimly lit conditions and seem as though it was taken in broad daylight. Due to the high exposure of the flash, an option is made available to make it dim in order to get the best possible results. On the other hand, there are many problems with such an advanced phone. Firstly, steady movement of the arm is required to obtain the best clarity of a picture, which is difficult. In most cases, slight movement causes the picture to look blurred and is really annoying when capturing the finest sceneries of the day. This disadvantage also affects the video camera option where a captured video accompanied by sound is stored on the phone's memory. Secondly, the three stage zoom function can only be undertaken whilst the resolution of the screen is reduced to its minimum. Once again, the clarity of the image is nowhere like when the camera is brought up close to the object.
Polyphonic ring tones are another feature that hails Sharp phone. The list of over 30 to choose from isn't a significant number but the quality per tone shows the amount of effort that has been put into it. Unlike the Nokia phones, ring tones such as Ibiza have been included to suit every person. However, if the preinstalled ring tones are not approving then the Vodafone Live will give you a vast selection of the latest and best ring tones to offer. I really love the animations that come up whilst the phone has an incoming call. Battery life is a continuing problem in all electrical products, however I find the Sharp Gx20 flawless. I find that charging the phone up for only 5 hours could be left on standby for up to 5 days. This is a momentous amount of time compared to other phones with similar specification. At this moment, you may think the battery must be large; however this is not the case. The battery is similar in size to the Motorola V50 and I feel the improvement in long-lasting battery life doesn’t stop here for Sharp.
The external screen is also very useful to take pictures of yourself and mates, but most of all the date/time when the phone is flipped close. This screen is also full colour but it only supports a low number of pixels compared to the main display. The icons of been fully reworked into bringing 3D modern graphic user interface. Personally, they have more detail than those icons of the Windows XP. Honestly.
There is only one game to offer when bought new which seems pretty boring but did have me addicted for a while. The polyphonic sound is excellent and the detail is superb. However, I was not surprised as the world-popular software Java was installed to give it the fun-filled experience. The only thing that irritates me is the fact of not including different networks other than Vodafone. I mean, there are so many networks to choose from such as Virgin which I find is extremely cheap. It could be because I haven’t ever used Vodafone and mostly glued onto Orange. But, the user still should have a choice.
As I said, it is difficult to criticise such an amazing product. Great for business men and social people alike, but I would wait for a small length of time for the price to go down to about £250-£299. In contrast, I believe that each and every penny you spend is worth it for such a highly acclaimed phone. Really Recommend

Really great review with loads of details and information in there. I bought one of these about a year ago and had nothing but technical trouble with the damn thing, specially the camera, eventually got a refund and bought a Motorola V500, no problems since.....Roy

I agree with you - I also have this phone. One little niggle: it is a pity alarms don't link to the calendar automatically. But picture quality is great. Really good review. Nickie

This sounds like a good phone. I used to have a GX10 but I found it too heavy and big. --Chris--
