I had a similar shopping experience as wrenny. She forgot to mention that Richer Sounds also provide 5 year warranty at 10% cost of this product.
I found this a good replacement for my old standard sony CRT TV. It was far lighter than my old heavier CRT and was a doddle to get it out of the box and set up. The on screen pull down Menu's were similar set up to ms windows, and all text is readable within the confines of an average living room ( 5 x4 m) The picture from NORMAL BROADCAST TV is EXCELLENT( What Hi-Fi? recommended) even from my standard roof top aerial, which isn't even boosted. You may see this TV in Curry's etc. but with a sky signal. I advise you to get the shop to connect a DVD player to it for a better idea of its real potential.
I have a normal Eltax DVD player and it plays at 50hz, 480i scan, with a good scart lead.( recommended). This displays a better picture than my old sony TV which i thought was good.
I managed to get an even better DVD image with sharper picture and better colours by using a component AV lead with my PS2 at 60hz, 580i scan. The component lead cost £17 and is a cheap alternative to buying a new DVD player.
A HDMI DVD player will push this LCD to near HDTV picture quality but this will be downscaled to suit the screen resolution. Although it is not HD ready, it is compatible and this connection is needed if you plan to buy the latest xbox or PS3.
Once you connect your DVD, Video, Game console the TV automatically recognises the signal and chooses which picture/sound setup you require. You can edit and save these for each input, avoiding the setup process the next time. The TV took a while to recognise the component connection. It has connections for a wall bracket, but this is not included and you need a solid coffee table or stand to sit it on. The 60,000 hr lifespan relates to its backlight. This figure only applies to the backlight mid. setting. I found my own settings for the backlight better than the automatic sensor or OPC, although this is a clever feature. The sound is good although i would have liked to have Dolby Digital/DTS. With a 32" screen you are getting into the realms of home Cinema and a seperate sound system would be ideal but not entirely neccesary.

good informative evaluation! especially as you've given eg's of your own usage and connnections on the product. It's a nice design but a shame not HD ready or built in digital tuner which saves on boxes, and is the way forward. Just thought i would add thats its better to see a tv with a tv/digital feed such as sky or freeview going through it.The reason for that is the television's processor work's harder to convert an external signal, whereas if you connect a dvd player up to it, the data is already converted and the tv just feeds it to the screen, without the processors having to do anything.
