My experiences with the Sharp LC-46: When I was out shopping for a new TV after my old one recently reached it's last working days, I was at first reluctant to buy a TV with a very large screen. The reason being I felt it would stick out too much in the room. I was drawn to this TV because of its clever design and the subtlety of the speakers. This TV blends nicely with it's environment, despite being 46" in size and this is the reason I bought it. The thin frame around the TV is like that of a modern picture frame and not like the chunky frames of old TV's. When wall mounted, or indeed on the desk stand, it is possible to display family photos taken on 5 mega pixel cameras at their true resolution, and the TV can be used as a large picture frame. This is made possible due to the 60,000 hour panel life. I have used the TV in this way and it certainly provides an awesome way to show pictures you've taken yourself or downloaded. I also recently purchased a PS3 and this TV is the perfect way to play your games. With a very good adjustable brightness and a very low response times this TV is the perfect candidate for your Next Gen console. I am more than impressed with this TV, it is very aesthetically pleasing and is easy to use.
Thoughts on different aspects of the TV The picture quality when used with a SKY HD box is crisp and the different brightness and colour features allow for optimal viewing of whatever it is you are watching. even when used with standard freeview the picture quality is still sharp (excuse the pun!) The screen does not reflect the sun, and so gone are the days of seeing yourself or what's outside while watching your favorite movie.
The sound quality the integrated sound on the TV is impressive certainly enough for mean and the virtual surround sound is effective. However those of you after the ultimate sound experience I would recommend an auxiliary sound system.
Connectivity When you read the specification below, some of you may think why are there so many ways to connect to this TV? Well in short with technological advances being made each day, a device must be both compatible now and in the future with the sharp this is most certainly the case. HDMI connectors undoubtedly is the way of the future, however currently Scart connectors are still widely used this TV is compatible with today's technology and the technology of the future, very important when buying a TV at the minute.
Detailed Specification annotated by me: Screen size (inches): 46 Large screen though not so large that it stands out(this is helped by the clever aesthetics of the sharp.)
HD technology: 1080P Full HD + HD Ready This TV is future proof and has full HD resolution not just 720. This is very important as this is the way of the future and this Tv will avoid disappointment
IDTV Freeview DVB tuner: Yes With the switchover to digital to Digital TV coming soon having built a in digital receiver is a must for any one who likes a clutter free space. A very nice feature
Wall mountable: Yes Like most LCD TV's it is wall mountable with a TV of this size I would recommend this option
Aspect ratio: 16:9 For all you movie buffs out their watch the movies in proper ratio the way they were meant to be viewed
Response time (ms): 4 Often overlooked when buying a TV but in some ways one of the more important features. Many of us now have our Next Gen consoles (PS3 Xbox 360.) In order to play some of the faster paced games without a noticeable lag a response time below 8ms is recommended. This may seem unimportant but I've known people to prefer to play their Next Gen console on a small 14" screen simply because the response time of their large HD screen was poor. This makes the response time of this sharp excellent and a god buy for gamers
Brightness (cd/m2): 450 Brightness in LCD TV's is important as it has in the past turned people away from LCDs. With this sharp you'll have no such trouble maximum brightness is superb and the adjustable brightness in the menu means you can set it to whatever satisfies you.
Audio technology: Nicam A2 / Surround This TV has virtual surround sound built in to provide the user with a more exciting experience. Audio output (watts): 15W + 15W
Speaker system: Integrated Speakers are integrated into the TV so no extra sound system has to be bought the speakers are subtly hidden to enhance the aesthetics of the TV.
Ports: Input port 1: HDMI x 2 Input port 2: SCART x 2 Input port 3: AV/S-Video In Input port 4: RS232C Input port 5: PC In (no RGB) Output port 1: Audio out Ways of connecting, 2 HDMI ports means you can connect in true HD through Dual DVI from your computer or can have a BLU-ray player and another HD device like SKY HD connected at the same time. Scart still probably the most widely used, two ports available here again. S-Video and PC provide more ways to connect a computer or digital device like your camera. This TV provides many solutions for connecting devices and you will be hard pushed to find something incompatible.
Panel life (hours): 60,000 An important factor when purchasing an LCD is the backlight's life this has an impressive 60,000 hours thats equivalent to 2500 days without turning it off or 7 years on continually. On average use this TV should last 15 years or more. The long life also makes using this TV as a virtual picture frame viable.
Viewing angle (degrees): H:176/V:176 Unlike some LCDs and CRTs which have a limited viewing angle this TV is viewable right up to 176 degrees, this means the screen can been seen from basically any angle in the room, unless your behind the TV of course!
Top-up TV card slot: Yes If you wish to pay for some subscription channels then this slot will enable you to.
Desktop Stand: Yes If you decide not to wall mount it this TV this stand is very useful I find it sits nicely on any surface.
In conclusion I am very happy with this TV, and although it is expensive it is good value for money and is an excellent piece of kit and I would recommend it to any potential buyers. It met all my criteria when purchasing in that it is, both subtle for the screen size and it is fully HD. A great TV for any home.
Advantages: BRIGHT PICTIRE AND MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS. Disadvantages: NOT AFFORDABLE TO EVERY BODY DO TO ITS COST.
Sharp has been from my child hood days the first television we bought in the early 80"s. It served quite long for up to 20 years before it finally got old. Sony, National that is Panasonic in the recent moment and Sharp in the 70"s, 80"s and in the early 90"s was the best in the production of electronics and never had any competitors and it was in the mid and late 90"s that a lot of rivalries came into the category of electronics like the LG electronics, ... ...go back to my previous sharp electronic television product.
I saw the sharp Lc-46 Xd1e in an advertisement that tripped me and I started saving money towards buying because it is costly. The 46-inch LCD TV has a lot of fantastic features that I cant actually list all the features. It has not been quite long when I bought it so it will take me some time to master all the features but this is really sharp I will say precisely because from what I am ...

...wall. We eventually found this Sharp Aquos and loved it. We saw it in a retail shop and the price was £1999.99 which is alot. We were going to buy it anyway but we went home just to check over its spec etc. We then found one of those sites which compares prices and we found one going for £1450 including VAT and postage. At first we were a bit worried about buying things like this online but the site had excelent ratings so we did it. We paid for ... ...week or so but 2 days later it was here brand new in its box. We were so surpries about this, and free postage.
But anyway, we took it out of its box etc and connected all the wires needed. We firstly put it on its stand on a table while we set it up. It found all the channels automatically when we turned it on, then we did the freeview and found all those. Yes it has built in freeview. The menu is nice and easy to use. I must say the remote is ...

...TV has to offer!
Sharp are now using 8th Generation LCD production at their new factory, so this increases the efficiency, meaning lower consumer prices.
The TV itself is future proof with its 1080P capabilities, accepting signals from the new HD DVD’s, BluRay, PlayStation 3, XBOX 360, SKY HD and soon to be all TV nationwide. Sharp do excel above competitors with the 46” which offers RGB+. This gives an extra crimson red to define the detail in ... ...a contrast ration of 2000:1 or dynamic ratio of 10,000:1 which is above many other brands. One major plus with this TV is the ‘action’ mode. This changes the response rate from 6ms (which is better than leading brands already!) to an amazing 4ms! This is incredible when watching sports and high action movies.
The XD range also offers two HDMI inputs meaning you don’t have to buy costly extensions or swap leads over. Just plug in your HDMI units ...

...Around this size the Sharp was one of few featuring 1080p, the third criterion was refresh rate, Panasonic and especially Sony you could see the refresh rate was slow and images overlayed but the Sharp was fast and clear. With scrolling images it can take the engine a moment to interpolate. The contrast is good and the blacks are quite dark. There is a demonstration button which compares the terrestrial signal with interpolated picture, amazing difference. ... ...10ft and to my memory haven't distorted. I liked that it has a digital receiver built in as I have a small flat and hate excess clutter. My other choices were between Samsung and Pioneer, the deciding factor for me was the cost, there was little difference in picture quality. Digital guide is a little slow but easy to use. I love HD gaming on this TV, I feel like I'm in the game. ...
