Advantages: Great viewing experience Disadvantages: Sound could be better
Great viewing experience, once you have got it set up correctly. After having read the manual, following installation, we adjusted the set to our liking and have not looked back. Admittedly, we purchased high quality accessories - hdmi cable, scart leads, etc., in order to get the best out of this TV. I don't see the point of buying a good quality TV only to skimp on cheap leads, etc. I have 2 quibbles (and both are minor):
i) the sound quality could be better, as the speakers are situated on the underside of the TV. It would have been nice to have the facility to connect our existing speakers to this TV, but failing this, we have ordered a home cinema system in the hope that this will improve the sound quality;
ii) The on/off switch is on the top of the TV, which is ok if the TV is mounted on a stand. However, we chose to ...
Advantages: Easy to use for beginner, built in 16:9 field of view Disadvantages: Heavy in prolonged use (3.545Kg), quite short battery life
audio can be adjusted seperately manually.
Overall, sound quality in use has proved to be excellent (at times the microphone supplied picked up background noise missed by the operator but a directional microphone is availalble as an "extra").
Canon say that the XL2 offer "an incredible amount of manual control" and I must say that I agree.
Many cameras allow adjustment of white balance or brightness levels. The XL2 provides over 20 adjustable settings including sharpness, colour hue, gamma, knee, colour gain, skin detail and noise reduction.
In use we haven't even begun to scratch the surface of using all of these features but an initial "testing session" with a selection of possible adjustments found them easy to use. However, it may take a little while for a new user to learn how to access each of these features quickly ...
Advantages: Great Sound and Easy to Use Disadvantages: Heavy and Big unit
I recently bought the SharpXL-1000 of off Ebay and am really impressed with it! The sound quality is fantastic and the speakers pump out the sound loud and with almost No distortion.
The Hi-fi even looks fantastic, wiht the sleek look and silver finish. The see through speakers look good with the sound coming out crisp and clean even at a loud volume.
This particular model has a remote, according to the manual, but as I bought it off Ebay it never came with one. But this doesn't stop it from performing well, there are play, skip, function, volume and preset radio buttons located on the front, next to the display that has adjusted brightness (with remote).
The speakers on this model are 10 watts RMS.
1 bit D-A Converter.
The only problem is that it is quite bulky and heavy. ...
