This monitor stood out to me because of its good looks, impressive specification and quality brand. The monitor is on an attractive 4 pronged, silver star shaped stand. The monitor is easily adjustable. The height is variable, the angle can be changed up or down and side to side easily and it stays in position when changed. This monitor stood out to me because of its good looks, impressive specification and quality brand. The monitor is on an attractive 4 pronged, silver star shaped stand. Behind the actual display, on the stand, are two loop clips that can be used to keep the cables tidy. This further enhances the look of the monitor as there are no dangling cables.
With a response time of 16ms, max resolution of 1280 x 1024 and pixel pitch of 0.264mm the Sharp LL 171G-B is equiped to deliver a wonderful picture.
The monitor is easily adjustable. The height is variable, the angle can be changed up or down and side to side easily and it stays in position when changed. There is a headphone socket on the monitor and some built in speakers, The speakers average really, and I prefer to use my own surround sound system. There are a series of menu controls on a silver panel running along the bottom edge of the monitor. It is easy to swap between digital and analogue outputs. The on/off button is well designed and seems like it will last well. It has a light that turns green when the monitor is on, and amber when it is on standby.
There were no dead pixels on the monitor I received. I have heard that sharp replace monitors with dead pixels free of charge, however this is un-confirmed. The monitor comes with a comprehensive instruction manual and is simply to set up.
I am using the DVI interface to connect it to my pc but there is also an analogue socket and cable supplied.
I recommend this product to those of you that are willing to pay that bit of extra cash for a quality product. It not only looks the part but has been very reliable and delivered an excellent picture. I have noticed that unless the max resolution is selected the image quality does become slightly worse but this is expected as resolution depicts the smallest distinguishable detail.
A quality monitor, definatly near the top of its range.
