Advantages: Extremely clear picture Disadvantages: Not the cheapest around
Having recently had to throw away my CRT monitor after a faithful five years of service, it was time to try getting one of these fancy new TFT monitors that I see all the time now. Fancy estate agents and hotels all seem too eager to show off these monitors even though half havern't a clue about them, just the latest office fashion accessory.
However this said I've become rather pleased with the change from a traditional large monitor. ... ...desk to stretch out and its also much lighter allowing me to tuck it under my arm and take it on the go to friends houses.
Getting more technical the contrast, typically bad in TFT monitors is excellent on this particular one, quoted as 700:1 and the refresh rate is plenty fast enough for you gamers out there at 25ms. The LL-T19D1 screen is equipped with a high-performance TFT LCD that achieves a high contrast ratio of 700: 1 and a high brightness of 300 cd/sq.m. With an effective display area of comparable size to that of a 21" CRT, the large screen provides easy to view images of CAD and general-purpose applications like spreadsheets. In addition to two 15-pin mini D-sub connectors for analog signal input, the LL-T19D1 is equipped with one DVI-D connector for digital signals. The monitor can be shared by 3 PCs. Swing top design enables the user to adjust the screen angle and height for maximum comfort and productivity. Building the power supply into the back of the unit eliminates the need for an AC adapter, tidying up power supply cord connection. The display is equipped with "Office" mode for a lower brightness display, reducing power consumption to 25 W. The display can also be switched to other modes: "VIVID" mode for dynamic primary colors, and "STD" (standard) mode for displaying colors from original scheme of liquid crystal panels. The LL-T19D1 is compatible with the "sRGB" international standard for color reproduction. By performing color conversions that adjust to liquid crystal characteristics, the LL-T19D1 displays pictures with natural tones, and color matching is achieved with sRGB compatible peripheral equipment. The monitor provides ICC profile, and is capable of color matching in ICC profile-compatible applications.
