Hi guys. I mainly write reviews about music but the odd product I have around the house might get reviewed every now and then. I am currently training to be an opera singer so anyone with the same interest get in touch.

I live in a Bed and Breakfast and we use this machine to help with our business correspondents. When we first got it home I thought that the set up would be relatively simple and that I wouldn't need to consult the instruction Manuel very often if at all. How wrong I was. Even the initial "click and slot" procedure was relatively complicated. Once I got it to work I had to set the thing up. This also seemed complicated and everything is done from an umbrella menu. (Everything is done from the one menu) Trust me when I say that you will need the instruction booklet. To get the set up I wanted for the hotel it must have taken me around 2 hours.
So with everything set up I phoned a friend to send a text fax. What I found is that the phone rings, then stops for around 10 seconds, then rings again. There is no clear sound to tell you whether or not this is an income fax or phone call (it is a phone as well). After a minute of incoherent rings I heard the printer start up. HURRAY I thought as the machine started to make all the noises associated with a computer printer. After my initial bout of excitement I realise that the paper feeder was not supplying the fax machine with any paper. (Maybe it wasn't hungry?). This is a problem that still affects us to this day. Seven out of ten times the paper needs to be hand fed into the machine. It does store the fax in the memory though so if no one is in you won't lose your fax.
Another problem with the machine is that the hands free or loudspeaker option only results in a high-pitched squeal of feedback. It is impossible to use this setting for both incoming and out going calls.
On the upside, if you have a lot of incoming and outgoing faxes, the memory is very good. I have sent 4 faxes one after the other and the memory didn't go down past 95%. Also the ink cartridge (if set to standard quality) does last for quite a while and when it does come round to replacing it they are quite cheap. The shape of the machine is also well designed I can imagine it being easy to locate on any desk or work surface.
So overall not really happy with the product but I suppose it does work, in one-way or another. This machine has also made me question the quality of the whole Sharpe brand.

I find fax machine a pain in the a*** too. i prefer to communicate with email. Much more reliable!! Great review!

Sounds like a nightmare. Arrrg I have had problems with fax machines myself dont think its just Sharpe. If you pay a bit more you get a better product but very indepth review on the faults
