The Sharp VLAH30U Viewcam combines Hi8 video quality with a power zoom lens and full-range autofocus. Its 3-inch onscreen display and high-capacity battery pack make it user friendly and efficient. It features a 16x zoom lens and digital gamma brightness compensation for clearer pictures. For unique and personal recordings, this Hi8 Viewcam sports a customizable and standard message title writer, as well as four digital picture effects, inlcuding black and white, sepia, solarized, and negative images. An infrared remote control is supplied so you have the freedom to sit back and watch while your Viewcam does the work. Its compact size and manageable weight make it ideal for travel.

...I will say that this is the year for cameras for me. I have gotten 2 camcorders and one digital camera this year alone. How did this come about? Fine, this time I got this as a present from a good friend of mine. The convenient feature of the VLAH30H allows user for easy shooting in various lighting conditions and on the other hand, enables easy shooting on high quality hi8 video.
The feature that I like most in this camcorder is the colour that looks somewhat like gold in front but the real enclosure colour is champagne and black. One thing is this, I think that phone technology has reached to some certain highs in the sense that most people now prefer camera phones to camcorders but all the same, I still prefer this. ...Sharp Viewcams have always been linked with home movies as far back as I can remember. So what’s the hurry, why should we rush out and buy this new offering? The bottom line: You will possibly not find a smaller and more useful camcorder in the Sharp range or any other, for that matter.
The Z series is, according to Sharp, is their newest range in Digital Camcorders and incorporates cutting edge technology in a very small, light weight chassis.... swivel-tilt hand grip, fold out view screen, DV In/Out, 10x Optical Zoom/500x Digital, Digital Camera facility, Mini DV media, the list is almost endless.
Unfortunately I am a bit of a pessimist, so in true pessimistic form lets get the flaws out the way first, it makes for better reading later on (if your still with me!):

...When I got my first camcorder, I was very disappointed with it! It was cumbersome, heavy and awkward. Eventually we gave up using it, and it remains in our cupboard. Then came our trip to Disneyland-Paris, and how can you go there without recording Mickey saying good morning, or cuddling his Minnie?
So without further ado, I scoured the Internet in search of the cheapest priced camcorder, with certain conditions. Firstly, it had to be easy to use: Next it had to be from a well-respected manufacturer (no I am not a snob-just cautious): next it had to be within my price range, and lastly I wanted one, which you didn’t have to stick to your eye to catch the action!
