MY MISSION TO FIND MY PERFECT COMPANION . . .
As a part of our job, we make use of wide varieties of office stationery quite a lot. . . Highlighters are one of them, as we use them for highlighting dates for particular events and special, important meetings.
Every employee is responsible for purchasing his own office stationery in addition to other bits and pieces (Yes, it is the office policy). I always look for top quality products, which has its value for money, as you all very well know.
A couple of weeks ago, I run out of my favourite pink highlighter, so I went to many shops looking for another one but none suiting my style. I never knew that buying an appropriate highlighter for work was such a hard chore! There were so many brands and so many options and prices to choose from!
I asked the shopkeeper to tell me what he recommended as the best to buy, since I do not want to go every now and then and buy new supplies especially with the cold weather at the moment!
He recommended The Sharpie brand. I had heard of it when I was in the UK but the name of the product was not just Sharpie it was Sharpie ACCENT! I have definitely not heard of the accent however due to my previous knowledge of Sharpie brand I bought a couple to try, surely PINK was one of them while the other one was ORANGE.
SHARPIE ACCENT? . . .
The highlighter was named Sharpie (sharp or vivid) after its vibrant and glowing colours. This is a very well known brand of disposable markers and office tools made in the USA (Stanford) and sold worldwide. Frederick W first manufactured it in 1964 and throughout the years, the Sharpie brand started to improve and introduce new designs and makes. Sharpie Accent was introduced to the world in the year 2004.
The SHARPIE HIGHLIGHTERS AND THEIR ‘FLAWLESS’ ACCENT TYPES . . .
''There are quite a few types of Sharpie Accent including:• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Pocket
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Mini
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Mini Fashion Wrap (The Newest)
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Pocket Pink Ribbon (A Special Edition To Support City Of Hope Cancer Research Center)
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Tank
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Retractable
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Generation (The highlighter that I bought)
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Liquid Pen
• Sharpie Accent Highlighter Jumbo
The Appearance, Feature And Shape Description Of The Marker . . .
I had previously been told and I am still told by many people, including the shopkeeper that this brand of highlighters is very long lasting, so I was expecting a chunky and heavy one but it was Very light in terms of weight. It looked empty to me! However, the shopkeeper told me there is no relation between the weight of the pen and the lasting of it! Ok . . . I was not very convinced but I bought them anyway.
Interesting shape? No! The shape isn’t that attention-grabbing, it was like any other highlighter; it has a long, straight and slender shape . . . you can see “Sharpie Accent HIGHLIGHTER” written on the both sides.
At the bottom of the pen, you can find a round-white piece of plastic stuck at the base with some tiny plastic pieces dividing the base into small chambers. I discovered later that this specially designed to attach several highlighters to each other you will not lose them and keep them all together.
The cap of the Accent Generation pen looks different from other Accent highlighters. It does have a funny shaped lid, which reminds me of a crown or a Russian hat!
Opening the cap to see a much slimmer cylinder and at the end a carved-coloured tip connected to it.
The shape all over was all right, nothing fancy was going on, even the pink one was similar to others.
Colours
Sharpie Accent has a selection of great, vibrant, exciting and eye-catching colours. They have yellow, pink, orange, turquoise, lavender, fluorescent yellow and fluorescent green! Moreover, they are all great!
Smell
Most Highlighters in the stores have very strong and dreadful smell; thankfully, it is not the case for Sharpie Accent. It’s nearly odour free, I can hardly smell a thing, which is quite good as I used to hate the smell of highlighters and the felt tip pens.
Usage
It can be ideally used for office work and school for highlighting special events and meetings while students and teachers use it for arranging dates for tests or to highlight important texts and in addition to writing posters.
My experience with the ACCENT!
Holding this relatively slim and SHORT pen is so easy, it is very light with an easy grip, which I found very practical. Also with the special design at the back, I managed to attach my other pen to it so I would not spend ages looking for it!
The special construction of the chisel tip helped me to get the desirable thickness that I was looking for, by this I mean thicker lines for bigger formats and smaller one for the finer layouts.
What I like most about this special highlighter is how light and see-through the colour is. By using high quality ink, it was showing well especially when using it. No smudging or smearing occurred moreover, there was a great colour results on the paper or on cardboards however, as the highlighter is a permanent marker; it can’t be used on the white boards, as it needs another type of pens (semi permanent)
It is very translucent so I can easily see and read the text underneath the highlighter, unlike other highlighters that that leaves blotches and make reading so difficult to obtain. The Sharpie Accent Highlighter does not penetrate on the paper and does not cause any mess so I get great results every time I use it.
Moreover, It’s almost odourless therefore, I finally saved my sense of smell as it was tortured for years, in fact that was everytime I used my smelly highlighter pen (although it was my favourite!)
I like my gorgeous PINK pen, the colour is so vibrant and lively that I can actually see it glowing from a distance!
The only downside about it is that it can be very difficult to remove from clothes, leather or carpet when stained so be careful.
I once stained the office cream leather couch with my pink pen, I couldn’t remove it . . . so my signature still there !
I have been using it for 3 months now on daily basis and still as vibrant as ever, the colour didn’t faint at all so it was money well spend and I don’t have to run to the shops into get a new one for a long time now.

Bad points
Sharpie accent highlighters, in general, are very good products and I can hardly find any defect or bad points in it, only a few.
• It has a permanent colour, so it will easily stain on your clothes.
• It can also stain on the skin but thankfully, it can be removed by using some white spirit, alcohol, vinegar or simply make up remover.
• Not much colours to choose from
• Very simple designs
Warnings
• Although it is none toxic and AP certified but still strongly advised not to give it to children under three.
• Do not sniff it, eat it or suck it! (sorry but there are some people who did it)
• Do not use it on skin, fingernails or on eyes.
• Do not use it on beige or light carpets . . . always use a protector underneath as the colour may easily penetrate into surfaces.
Prices and availability
The prices vary depending on the sizes, thickness of the nozzle and the type. It can be bought separately (£1.29-£1.84) or as a pack of six (£5.99-£6.29), twelve (£8.26-£8.99) and twenty-four (£12.49-£12-99).
Conclusion
I gave this highlighter an outstanding 9/10 simply because of it vibrant translucent colours and as it is smell FREE. So when you want to buy a new highlighter from any high street store or bookshop remember Sharpie and make sure it has the ACCENT ;) It is the FASHION in the business industry!
Highly recommended.
