My favourite curry dish is deffinately tikka masala! We used to have a take away curry every friday, but now we have moved into our new house, we just treat ourselves with a curry once a month. We cant afford to have one every week anymore!
I decided if we werent going to buy a take away curry, why not try making one ourselves! I wouldnt have a clue how to make a curry from scratch! So i have tried many different brands of cooking sauces in a jar.
Sharwood's cooking sauces are deffinately not my favourite! I do prefer pataks curry sauces. Although i always think they are nothing like the real thing! I have tried so many different sauces including bhuna, rogan josh etc and none of them taste anything like the real thing to me! The only one thats tastes similar is a korma curry sauce. I quite like the pataks korma and the sharwoods one, but pataks is deffinately nicer than the sharwoods one.
This tikka masala sauce is quite spicy, not too hot, but it has a nice spicy taste. Half way through eating this i find it a bit too spicy and i dont enjoy it anymore. It is very tasty, but not creamy like real tikka masala. It is quite a thick sauce, and you dont get much of it once it is cooked. This jar would only really serve two people, it isnt enough for 3 if your like me and like a lot of sauce.
This tikka masala sauce is very easy to make. All you do is fry some chicken for about 5 minutes, then pour the sauce in over the chicken and simmer for about 20 minutes. It is lovely served with either rice or chips. We love to have naan bread and poppodoms with this.
These jars of curry sauce cost about £1.46, but they are often on offer in asda 2 jars for £2. This tikka masala sauces contains 172 calories per serving which isnt great! But a curry is a treat so who cares!
Sharwoods do other curry sauce flavours including balti, rogan josh, korma, vindaloo, madras and jalfrezi. They also do a range of other indian products to go with your meal such as naan bread, mango chutney, poppodoms and noodles.
Although this tikka masala sauce is very tasty, it is nothing like the real thing, and i only ever buy it on offer now and again. It is worth a try if you want to save money not going out for a curry, but i would recommend trying the pataks sauces, they are much nicer!
