Shells optimax petrol is better than the cheaper petrol’s that are on offer in a few ways. These ways are as follows;
1) The petrol will make your car more responsive. This is especially good whilst driving in rush hour traffic. Or can be great fun on country roads.
2) The petrol burns cleaner. This is due to the higher Octane levels than cheaper petrol. Octane rating is a measure of a fuel's resistance to knocking. This occurs during combustion when the fuel-air mixture explodes ahead of the flame front rather than burning smoothly, causing a “knocking” noise. As it burns much cleaner the mpg of the car is improved slightly. This is more noticeable on long haul journeys.
3) Because you are putting cleaner petrol in your car your carsengine will be less clogged up. This is due to more refined fuel and less particles in it. This can result in cheaper services and less maintain of your car. Also you petrol tank will not fill up with as much sludge. Also the petrol contains detergents which help these statements as well. Because the petrol is cleaner it will not bake itself into the engine inlet valves and cause problem around the combustion chamber.
The difference between optimax and conventional fuels is about 4p. I think this can be justified but it is up to your self. This extra cost of 4p can be reduce when taking into account the information that you have just read. HOWEVER USING OPTIMAX IS THE MORE EXSPESIVE OPTION!!!! However just for less hassle in the future I would recommend it.
