Thomas Sheraton has been making furniture since 17 91. These kitchen cabinets are not ones you just pick up in the shop and make yourself. When you place the order the cabinets ... ...ready made
Sheraton kitchen furniture comes in a variety of woods pine, oak, lime, maple and laminates and white.
The kitchens come in a variety of styles traditional, contempory, shaker, laminates and whites
We really wanted a traditional feel to our kitchen like a country kitchen.
We spent ages looking through brochures at home. In store we felt and examined the units.
Well we ordered and had fitted the essential kitchen units just before Christmas. We decided to wait till after Christmas and we had paid a few bills before we would order and install the remaining units. That way I would have a better idea of what units I needed. The new units I have ordered will arrive in early March.
When we decided to build our extension on the house we thought a long time about refurnishing the kitchen area. We were getting rid of M F I kitchen units left by the previous owners and although serviceable they had not been good.
We went round all the kitchen shops that sell ready to build kitchen units they were a very good price (cheap) but we thought they were flimsy and would not last as long as we would like.
Draws were wobbly (we had experienced draws not strong enough falling to pieces in the old kitchen units we have). We then went to a few proper furnishing shops Lucas and the likes yes they were very nice, a lot more expensive.
I have previously bought things from john Lewis and feel although maybe not the best you can buy that their goods are good well made and a fair price. How the drawers opened and how good were the cupboard doors? did they open well?. We felt and stroked the wood. We were please with the positive way they felt good opening and shutting easy gliding drawers that did not feel flimsy.
Now some of the designs and woods were a little bit too expensive for us but we saw and liked The Abbey panelled pine one of the cheaper designs and woods. This would maybe stretch us and empty our pockets but we decided better to have a good kitchen we were happy with. We already have a good solid pine kitchen table, which would go well with the colour of the pine kitchen units. The drawers opened well-felt solid and well fixed not likely to break the drawer runners easily. The doors opened and shut well the hinges looked as if they would hold for many an opening. The wood on the doors had a solid feel to it. The interior was pine also, not a white laminate sheet .It was a good thick solid shelf not flimsy like some of the cheap units we had looked at. The wood felt smooth and lovely not a laminate that might peel off.
Now the design we choose is a classic it has panelled doors. One of the units we liked was a dresser and this has lattice doors I would quite like a dresser but we decided we could not afford it yet. (Maybe never) The lattice doors were about £600 each , then there was the prices of the cupboards and draws for the complete dresser it would have been about £3000.
So we choose a larder cupboard a sink unit, a unit to put the gas hob onto. We choose a corner unit (with a magic corner), a wall unit, some more cupboards and drawers as for our basic first fitting .I think this came to £2500. We have now ordered units to put into a central island (some more drawers and some more cupboards) they will cost another £2000. When you order these units there are a wide variety of different cupboards to choose from , different sizes and different fitting some with drawers some without. We had a choice of different handles for the doors .We had a choice of work surfaces too
John Lewis ordered our furniture from the manufactures Thomas Sheraton and the first units took about 8 weeks to arrive. We were happy with that, as the kitchen was not ready for units to be fitted. . The units arrived ready-made. I did worry if the would fit through all the doors into the kitchen but, yes they did fit with a bit of a squeeze. It was a relief we had gone for ready made units, as my husband has not been well (suffering from work related stress) and the stress of trying to fit units together would not have been good . If we had bought D I Y units we would probably have has to pay someone to put them together.
However we did have to fix these units in place on the walls and my husband did this helped by our builder He did this as a good will gesture. The units arrived early morning and when I got home from work at 5were mostly fitted. We had a plumber attach the sink and fittings and the gas hob. The shelves inside the units can be fitted at a variety of heights . Trays and baskets can be bought if required
Now we are waiting for our other units to arrive these will arrive 12 weeks after ordering. This may seem like a long time if you are desperate to get a new kitchen fitted but I am prepared to wait. I am happy with my new units they are the right style for my kitchen, look perfect and feel as if they will last for years. Thanks for reading Mary.
Advantages: Good Quality, nicely finished and all parts arrived together. Disadvantages: none
...fitter in Nuneaton who supplies Sheraton kitchen units in their design.
We had a normal, bog-standard unit put in by our original housebuilders seven years ago which was tatty to say the least. At this point I did not realise the vast difference in the quality of kitchen units, and it was only through a lot of research that you can really understand the choices available.
Our old kitchen was 15mm units with no backs and poorly fitted. The Sheraton ... ...you are having built-in then Sheraton do a full range of door panels for these items too.
As previously reviewed, these kitchen units are not particularly cheap but, in the great scheme of things, if you want a comparable quality from somewhere else you could quite easily pay more. So, I do believe they represent good value. ...

Ten years ago, I had Everest windows and doors fitted throughout the house. They weren't the cheapest on the market, but the installation service was excellent, and they look as good today as when they were put in. I'd seen Everest advertising their new venture into fitted kitchens, and thought I'd see if they could do as good a job.
I phoned the call centre and made an appointment for a designer to visit. He turned up on time (always a good start), measured up and started giving the usual sales pitch. I cut short a lot of this as I've heard it all before, and cut to the chase of what we wanted and how it was going to be laid out.
I'd already done lots of homework, on this site and others, about kitchen units, and was pleased to see that Everest are offering Sheratonfurniture, which is vastly superior to the cheap flat pack ...
