Advantages: Loud, Great Sound Quality, Lots Of Control, Cheap! Disadvantages: Large physical size, Poor Remote Control
...I was looking for a cheap, good quality Home Cinema amp that would be used mainly for music and DVDs. After looking through pages of Sony and JVC models, I stumbled across the Sherwood RD6103.
At first, I must say I wasn't particularly impressed. With only 65 watts of power per channel and no 6.1 or 7.1 support, I was sceptical to say the least. Anyway, as I was on a strict budget and the RD6103 did seem a good buy, I went to a local Hi-Fi dealer to try one out.
I was not expecting what I saw! In the flesh, the unit looked clean and professional, with nice touches such as rounded edges and handy connectors for Audio/Video inputs on the front of the unit.

Advantages: Value for money, build quality, features Disadvantages: Difficult to bi-wire
...I cannot think of another Audio/Video Receiver that offers anything like the value of the Sherwood RVD 6095RDS. If you are just starting out in the world of home cinema, or if you are on a budget and looking to replace an ageing amp, then Sherwood are a brand you should consider.
Richer Sounds are tied up with Sherwood to such an extent that you will find it difficult to obtain Sherwood products from any other UK supplier. They are known to build good quality items with features not otherwise found in the budget arena. They are well reviewed on the Internet and What Hi-Fi magazine has never given one of their A/V amps less than 4 out of 5 stars.
The 6095...

Advantages: Fantastic Surround Sound, Dolby Digital, DTS, Excellent Value Disadvantages: Must be configured correctly (easily done)
...Sherwood 6106R:
Now for those who don't know, the Sherwood 6106R is a surround sound amplifier, the successor to the 6095 reviewed on this site also. I bought mine for £130 ex demo, but they can be had for £179.99 new.
A surround amplifier is different from a normal hifi amplifier in that the normal amp is designed for music alone, whereas a cinema amp is for home cinema, and also for music when you spend enough.
Now, if I had written this review a week ago, I would have given it about three stars, as I was not very happy with it's home cinema capabilities. But that has changed, dramatically! Since I got that amazing ex demo price, I didn't get a manual, FM aerial or a remote. I have the manual and aerial and will get the remote soon anyway so that's ok. The reason I downloaded the manual was because there was a button called...
