I frequently travel on the train for 3 hour journeys each way so I wanted a portable DVD player to stop me being bored rigid. I happily chose the Shinco 1731A portable DVD player for the following reasons 1) The seven inch model was small, easily portable but the colour ActiveMatrix TFT screen didn't seem too small when watching films on the train. THe screen also has a 400:1 contrast ratio giving really clear pictures. 2) I wanted a multiregion portable DVD player so I could use all formats (1-6). This DVD player also plays other formats, including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, JPEG and Kodak Picture CD. The Shinco also has multi language/angle/subtitle capability, zoom play and programmable play and comes with a tiny remote control. 3) I wanted a portable DVD player that I could use with my TV set at home or in the car on long journeys. The Shinco also comes with accessories including an AC adapter, video and audio cables for connecting to an external TV set and a car adapter. 4) Because my journeys were approx 3 hours I wanted the DVD player to have a high quality rechargable battery that would last for this time when watching films. The Shinco comes with a high quality lithium rechargable battery that when fully charged easily last for 3 hours. 5) The Shinco comes with an output for headphones so you can listen to your films in private and also has a built in anti-shock system which was brilliant as the train journeys could be pretty bumpy. 6) The Shinco comes with a hard nice looking aluminium carry case. 7) The Shinco has won several awards including Best Buy awards in the portable DVD group tests in T3 magazine and Essential Hi-Fi and Home Cinema. This was important to me as I had never heard of the manufacturer Shinco before. 8) Price: The 7 inch was £199 but has now been reduced to £149 which is brilliant for the quality of the product. My only tiny complaint is that it does not come with headphones- you have to buy these yourself.
Advantages: Great picture and sound quality, multi region player which plays huge range of formats. Cheap price Disadvantages: None- although if being really fussy sound from speakers could be alittle louder but fine when using headphones
...glad you do now. Infact Shinco make parts for major brand names so guess some of you already have Shinco kit without knowing it. This SDP-1731A model that is on review is such a great buy and even greater price. Prices have been knocked down making it now £149.95 it has had great review from magazines as best portable dvd player in its class. Suggest anyone wanting to know more about the product to skip my poor review and read the expert review, ... ...and the great products they made. Here is basic information on 1731A - 7" 16:9 TFT widescreen monitor, Plays Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 DVDs out of the box DVD / DVD-R / DVD+R / DVD-RW / DVD+RW / MP3 / CD / CD-R / CD-RW / Kodak Picture CD. All I can say is google search and checkout reviews.
