Advantages: DivX and USB playback
Disadvantages: If I think of any....

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, the main reason being the screen size and multi-region capability. So far I have had no complaints from upstairs. I've never seen a portable dvd player so can't compare so I'll just mention what I like (lots) and dislike about this machine. 1. Multi-region out the box. 2. DivX playability. I can (shh) download stuff (I actually often download a TV episode I've missed or forgotten to record), which is ...
...3. Although the instructions say you can play mp3 and jpeg off a usb pendrive or memory card it doesn't say you can play videos. Tried it and it works - wonderful. 4. The screen can be rotated 180 degrees and pushed almost flat back. Nice if you want to hide the base. The screen is 47% bigger than a 7", equivalent from going from a 26" to 32" TV. 5.
