OVERVIEW One of the best-kept secrets of 1997 was the amazing 3D action title MDK. To this day I'm not sure why this game never achieved the popularity it deserved. What is MDK2? This is the... more

There is no justice in the world, really there isn't. The original MDK should have sold bucket loads, it had action, humour and superb graphics all rolled into one very nice game. However the PC owners decided it was too different to them and avoided it like a person with arachnophobia would avoid spiders. Also First Person Shooters owe quite a bit to the original MDK because it came up with the first Sniper Scope, which has now spawned itself into nearly every FPS game out on the market today. Despite not making much money a sequel was made, this time not by Shiny but Bioware. So does it ... more

Out of the new crop of games to have hit the market recently, this must stand out as being one of the best. You play a comic book hero who has to save the world from aliens who have invaded.Though this game is tricky to configure,it certainly does keep you playing, with above average graphics, good storyline, and fast action, this will appeal to gamers everywhere. destroy the alien mine carriers and save the world, along with your canine robot! This will also be very popular with kids too, and it has my seal of approval, and I heartily reccommend going out and buying this. ... more

Advantages Advantages Better graphics than the original

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Totally unoriginal

MDK was a popular game because it was a unique, genre-defying game. Unfortuntely MDK2 is not a new unique game, it is just MDK with new levels and improved graphics. When you did play MDK you realised that it wasn't that good a game anyway, it was just very original; MDK2 is just not a very good game. MDK2 is basically a shoot-em-up, you control Kurt and sometimes his dog sidekick. There are various baddies to kill along the way, and they do become quite tiresome after a while, simply because they are very similar, one after another. If you didn't play MDK the first time, and fancy a bit of a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Strange very different

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Silly AI

Games don't rank much higher on the zany scale than the original MDK. With weapons such as the world's most interesting bomb and sidekicks like a six-legged robotic dog and a crackpot scientist, it came as no surprise that MDK was a rather strange, yet thoroughly enjoyable title that was just begging for a sequel. It took a while, but BioWare has finally released MDK2, and I'm happy to report that it's even crazier and more fun than before. The story in MDK2 picks up shortly after where the original left off. Just when our hero Kurt Hectic thought he could head off to the Caribbean for a nice ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great game

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Whatever it stands for, MDK was the typical lost classic. It combined bang up-to-date graphics with a storming soundtrack, what could only be described as "fiendish" level design, and gameplay so addictive, it should have been illegal. Drenched in wickedly funny, off-the-wall humour, it was critically acclaimed by the press, hyped in all the magazines, and completely failed to sell. Why? Who knows? But one thing is for sure: if the sequel doesn't do better, covert agencies have been at work ensuring copies do not get to the shelves because this is one cracker of a game. Everything about this ... more
