I bought this product as I was looking for something to treat some nasty spots that I get now and again around my mouth and on my chin, I believe it is hormones related as I usually get them when I am stressed or around the time of the month. So, after trying all the products that promise a clear skin after one application (or even benzoyl peroxide that only burnt my skin) I decided to go for Shiseido as I have used and I am still using some of their skin care products and I am very happy with the brand.

The product

It's a clear fresh gel that contains salicylic acid as a main active ingredient, a known antibacterial agent that comes from willow bark to suppress bacterial overgrowth and keep pores clog-free. Salicylic acid also helps break down blackheads and whiteheads.

It is very quick-absorbing so you don't have to wait forever before applying your moisturiser and it smells nice too. It is invisible under your make up and it does not dry your skin or make it shiny like other creams I have been using in the past.

How to use

It's really easy to apply. You just need to smooth a thin layer over affected area or you can apply a drop directly onto your spot and leave it without rubbing it in. I find this particularly good when my spots are really red and sore. You will feel it working instantly on your spots as it stings slightly but only for few seconds. Usually I apply it once a day in the evening after cleansing my skin and before applying moisturiser. Although it can be used several times per day as needed.

Results

Usually in a couple of days my spots are gone. Only if they are incredibly big it takes another extra day before my skin is clear. I always keep it in my handbag as an emergency treatment as the Shiseido assistant told me I can apply it over my make up if I need to.

Price

I bought this product in Selfridges for £14.50 (15 ml tube) and you can find it also in Harrods, John Lewis and House of Fraser. Ask for a sample, they are not going to say no and you can try it for few days to see if it's going to work for you. Yes, it is more expensive than other spot creams like Clearasil or Neutrogena (reason why I am not giving 5 stars) but it is worth it as you only need a very small amount, it goes a long way and above all it works. I really recommend it!
