Shloer.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN.........
Owned by a company called: Merrydown Apparently Schloer is made in the UK to a time honored receipe, devised by the swiss doctor who gave schloer its name. The main ingrediant component are the grapes, which come from sunny Spain,in a place called La Mancha. The sun ripens the fruit and only the very best are selected; brought back in the Uk this is blended with fruit juices to make the full range....and very yummy they are too! There is nothing artificial added.
Often called the "The grown up soft drink " because although it's non alcoholic-is sophisticated and fine enough to place on any table for the fuss pots amongst us. It's been around for years and I'm sure you have heard or seen it but just incase you haven't this is the place to stop at for true fine refreshment at an affordable price.
Such wonderful, wonderful stuff. And so many advantages.
Which are...???
Firstly it's comes in many different flavors. Next it comes in a sophisticated tall recycable glass bottle.Posh enough for the most formal of tables. There are loads of Varieties to chose from. And every now and then they bring out a new time limited flavor. It's alcohol free therefore suitable for both the adult and chld. It's a lot cheaper than alcohol without compromising on the taste or its looks, and i'm very fond of the whole package. Good for any and every occassion;romantic enough for valentines;yet also robust enough to slurp down with a full English roast.
But it's shining glory?? No hangover the next morning!....And that's got to be a plus. Simply lovely natural nature's ingrediants. suitable for every and any occassion, from a slap up family meal to a formal 5 course dinner.
Looks and pours like wine -classy enough to be mistaken for wine yet without the rotten negative effects of alcohol. And at a down to earth price you will like.
At £1.85 for a litre bottle size,it's a cinch. Tesco and Asda's are selling it at the momment for the same competitive price. Also sold in Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Sommerfields....
Oh Aye,it's no secret that chrissie has been a fan of this stuff for years and years!
The TASTE> The AROMA...
When you unscrew the top, the fresh and rather sweet aroma of grapes /apples,and sometimes peach,or even elderflowers depending on the variety you have selected, hits yer. You've got your very own grapevine orchard right there in the bottle, and you can just imagine the hot spanish sun glistening on those grapes. Be careful as just like champagne the bubbles will hit yer tongue and back of the throat and nostrils, and spread it's effects instantly. Like a mellow wine this pure and gently harmless cocktail of fresh grape and apple juices is to be sipped regally, and served chilled, and not, I might add to be gulped down like some can of lager.
Schloer has quite a sweet taste,so I suspect there is lots of sugar and totally unfriendly for the dieater and diabetics. Sorry! Other than this, there is only enjoyment and exquisite pleasure to be derived from it.
THE VARIETIES AND WHAT COMPLIMENTS IT:
White Grape = A fresh clear sharper taste. This is Good with pastas, creamy sauces fish, chicken, Lamb, sweet and sour...a good classic all rounder.
Red Grape = Tastes good with steaks stews, casseroles /meat dishes.Curries..Lasagne. Tortillos..
Apple = Good with pork,chinese dishes..and bacon.
Peach = Not my favorite flavor, tastes a little synthetic.Kids might like it though.
White Grape and Elderflower: = A Good all rounder. Fresh and nice with curries...
Red Grape & Cranberry: = Not one of my favorites! But-Good for cystitis girls! Makes a refreshing tangy early morning breakfast drink. (you really wanted to know that didn't you! Lol....
Apple & Cinamon = special Limited edition! We enjoyed this flavor with our hot mince pies and cream at christamas! Great with Christmas fayre!! An old-fashioned yet deliciously warming heavenly perfume. Lovely "grows on you type " flavor.
RHUBARBS TO YO!... Yes,there is even a rhubarb flavor
And finally: Red Grape & Raspberry...I have yet to try this,so expect an update sooner or later! And there you are!
THE WHOLE PACKAGE:
To look at, It varies between a light see through shimmery color to a deep Red-wine look to a fresh and invigorating clear-opague/white gold honey yellow, and back again, depending on the type you have chosen. It looks clear and the consistency is light and cloud free. And is really light on the palette. The elderflower variety has a darker golden honey -type hue,but the white grape is a pure window clear colour.holding it up to the light -there isn't a cloudy hue to be seen, and you can really tell the liquid will be light on your stomach too. I enjoy schloer with anything and everything. It has a unique universal appeal....both in taste and looks. Italian,chinese...Indian...or British fish and chips all meals with this stuff goes down a treat. I think that Steaks, fish and pastas would compliment best though,so, off you go-delve in and bottoms up! Don't forget to Come back won't you and tell me your favorite!
WHERE ELSE CAN I GET IT?
Look in the soft drinks aisle in any good supermarket. It probably wont be in your corner shop or petrol garage....

Advantages: Very refreshing, you don't get an hangover like you would with alcohol, looks fancy Disadvantages: some people may not be able to live without alcohol?
...I can't deny that Shloer looks impressive. It's sturdy tall glass bottle easily towers over other drinks on the shelf and demands to be bought. But beyond the packaging is where the money is. Shloer comes in a variety of types and flavours. First there's the sparkling range offering six different varieties and a limited edition one. Then there's the new 'Sorelle' range which are herbal juice drinks and won't be available until May in Sainsbury's ... ...each different flavour of the shloer range.
The variety I will be talking about is the 'Sparkling' range and my chosen flavour is 'White Grape and Elderflower'. -----------------------------------------------
Elderflower??? Isn't that a plant?
-----------------------------------------------
I have to admit, when I saw the word 'Elderflower' on the bottle I was a little wary and it didn't exactly jump out at me as a tasty kind of flavour. I don't ...

...So I have started buying Shloer occasionally for them. Now I only really buy one or two types, but I know there are quite a few more flavours. The ones we prefer are the white and the red grape variety.
I shall write this review about the white grape variety as that was the one was opened yesterday in celebration on my daughters Confirmation.
The white grape Shloer comes in a clear 1L glass bottle with a green metal screw top and a green label ... ...and white grapes (36%). Shloer is made to a Swiss recipe by Merrydown PLC, East Sussex – well I suppose this method of producing a drink is very similar to producing cider and apple juice!!
As this doesn’t contain any preservatives it does need refrigerating once opened, but to be frank ours never lasts that long – my girls love it. The screw lid does reseal well enough though for it to be laid on its side in the fridge!
A 1L bottle cost me £2.09 ...

Shloer is a line of non-alcoholic drinks that have always been a favourite of mine for many a year. They are primarily made from grape juice and are of the sparkling variety. Unlike most soft-drinks however they are marketed exclusively towards adults. This doesn't mean however that they are not suitable for children because they are; I have drunk them from being a young child. They are marketed like this simply because they do have an adult appeal ... ...up soft drink" Shloer is primarily sold in one litre bottles in most supermarkets and I have just recently seen and purchased it in smaller 275mlbottles, this however was in my local branch of Heron, frozen foods and I have not seen them in the supermarket, but they may well be there. At this point in time I am not aware of Shloer being sold in pubs or restaurants which I think is a shame because it does like nice poured in a wine glass, in fact ...

...all seen the adverts for Shloer (you know the one with the flamingos in the Jacuzzi), but have you ever tried it...? If the answer is 'no', I would seriously urge you to do so! THE DRINK ITSELF
Shloer originally comes from Switzerland. It is a non-alcoholic, sparkling drink made from a blend of natural fruit juices and water. As a result, it doesn't contain any artificial flavourings, preservatives or sweeteners, and is suitable for vegetarians.

THE BOTTLE
Shloer is available in 275ml and 1 litre bottles. These are quite sleek in shape and minimalist in style. The letters 'S h l o e r' run vertically up the bottle in stylish white and silver writing, and the flavour of the drink appears on coloured strips at the top and bottom of the bottle.
SMELL
The first thing you notice about Shloer is its crisp, fruity smell. It is a soft smell, not too overpowering or pungent, but just right.

Advantages: Non-Alcoholic, available in most supermarkets. Disadvantages: Tastes disgusting, expensive, doesn't last long.
...Asda, Sainsburys, and I guess Shloer will have infested many more gullible shops. If you have trouble finding it, count yourself lucky!
HOW MUCH IS IT?
Prices vary from store to store, as with many things. I bought it from Asda for £1.49, though I've seen it as high as £2.99.

It all depends on your tastes, as to whether you'll like this drink. Loads of people can't stand alcohol, some people can't bear sugary pop, and then there's all the people in between. All I can say is that I can't stand it. It's sour, not refreshing, expensive and leaves a nasty aftertaste. Instead of forking out good money for it, you could drink toilet water, and be just as satisfied, I'm sure. It does look really good though, so ...

Advantages: fairly good value, tasty, fruity and no artificial ingredients Disadvantages: I can't stop drinking it!
Because she?s so fond of raspberries; the ones you eat and not the rude noise, you fools!
Tesco?s Finest Scottish Raspberry Crush was on BOGOF at Tesco?s a couple of weeks ago. This meant that I could buy two 1 litre bottles for 85 pence. This week it seems to be buy two bottles for £1.20, so perhaps I was lucky. The price compares well with other ?fruity? sparklingdrinks such as Appletise, which is on sale for £1.88 a litre and Shloersparkling red grape juice at £1.34 per litre. Coca cola is 99p for 1.25l.
I?m always on the lookout for new fizzy drinks. I hate artificial sweeteners and love real fruit juices that are enlivened with a bit of fizz. I love raspberries above any other fruit on the planet, even mangosteen, so I happily added these bottles to my pile of weekly shopping.
The bottle is a knobbled clear plastic ...
