STORY
After nearly two years, Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood ) is back, in a hilarious new shopaholic novel. Becky’s life is blooming! She’s working at London’s newest fashion store ‘The Look,’ house-hunting with husband Luke (her secret wish is a shoe room) . . . and she’s pregnant! She couldn’t be more overjoyed – especially since discovering that shopping cures morning sickness. Everything has got to be perfect for her baby: from the designer nursery, to the latest, coolest pram, to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be Luke’s glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky’s perfect world starts to crumble. She’s shopping for two . . . but are there three in her marriage?

MY OPINION
This book is the next in the shopaholic series. Although Sophie is a very good author and her books are very easy to read, and difficult to put down, you could read this book as a one-off holiday read, in my opinion, you may get confused about who people are if you haven’t read the other books in the series first. I have read the series in order and it does help you to understand what type of person Becky is and how much she enjoys shopping!! I find with some books, when you get to the end you feel that you would like to know a bit more about what happens in the future. This has not been the case with these as you follow the life of Becky Bloomwood, including when she gets married, and now when she is expecting a baby and moving home. I do hope that Sophie continues this series with a novel about their life as a family.
Those of you who are not familiar with books in this series, you will find letters which Becky would have sent to or received from various people. Including banks, financial advisors etc. they give brief information about what Becky may have done i.e. to make money etc. although they can be a bit annoying, they do give you an idea of what is going round in Becky’s head, which can be quite scatty at times
By chance this book came out after my baby was born, so for me, I enjoyed reading about someone else’s experience of pregnancy. This is an easy read book, which you will find difficult to put down. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the bits. (just be careful if reading in a public place. i.e. train bus)
( My copy has a different picture to that on this page, mine is blue and pink, with a picture of an old fashioned pram on the front overflowing with parcels and gifts, including shoes and champagne.)
COST
Although the hardback copy is priced at £17.99 I bought the book for £9.96 in Tesco. If you shop around, you should be able to get it for a good price, alternatively, have a look in your local library. You may not want to buy the whole shopaholic set as there are 5 books so far.
